Called Out Of Darkness

TEXT: 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)

"But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light."

Do you know that as a believer, you are God's own possession. You belong to God, purchased from the bondage and darkness of sin; adopted into the Kingdom of light as children of the most high God. What a wonderful privilege that we should be called children of the Almighty God.

WHEN DARKNESS RULED

The world was created out of darkness. It pervaded the universe before the Spirit of God moved upon the waters and declared: "Let there be light." (Gen 1:2-3). Darkness will not cover your light in Jesus name.

GOD SEES IN DARKNESS

There is nothing like darkness with God. The Psalmist said in Ps 139: 12, "but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you." God sees in darkness, "No darkness is thick enough to hide the wicked from his eyes" (Job 34:22). Every plan of the wicked, hatched in darkness against you and your family shall be exposed in Jesus name.

FORCES OF DARKNESS

Men love darkness (John 3:19). The rulers of the darkness of this world take advantage of the wickedness in the heart of natural man to wreck havoc in the lives of men. The world is covered in a cloud of spiritual darkness with forces loyal to Satan roaming free (Jonah 4:11). Believers are locked in a battle with the forces of darkness of this world. (Eph 6: 12). It is a spiritual battle, not a physical one. When forces of darkness gather, their sole aim is to throw fiery darts and accomplish the mission of their father - Satan: to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10a). The darts of Satan will not harm you or your family. The Lord will erect a hedge of fire around you and your family in Jesus name.

LIGHT OUT OF DARKNESS

Matthew 4:16 says: "The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined.” The father sent his only begotten son to the earth to shine the light of eternal life into the heart of men. Jesus said: "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life (John 8:12). The light of life is available to everyone who accepts Jesus as Lord and Saviour and follows him; such will no longer walk in darkness. But many many still reject Jesus today because, "men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil (John 3:19b). Are your deeds evil?

CHOSEN AND CALLED OUT OF DARKNESS

The mercy of God has chosen and called every genuine believer out of the cloud of spiritual darkness of this world into the marvellous, wonderful and glorious light of the Kingdom of the son of God, Jesus (1Pet 2:9). Matt 5:14 says: "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid." Your light will shine and the powers of darkness will never comprehend it in Jesus name.

ETERNAL DARKNESS

However, those who refuse to repent will move from spiritual darkness into eternal darkness. "Now throw this useless servant into outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Matt 25:30). Are you an unprofitable servant? Repent today and walk in the light of life.

Jeremiah 13:16 says: "Give glory to the lord your God before it is too late. Acknowledge him before he brings darkness upon you,

causing you to stumble and fall on the darkening mountains.

For then, when you look for light,

you will find only terrible darkness and gloom." REPENT!!

PRAYER:

Father, grant me grace to continually walk in the light of life in the mighty name of Jesus.
