Summary: Anything of significance is accomplished by the Spirit of God; not in your own power.

By My Spirit, Says the Lord

December 13, 2015 Evening Service

Immanuel Baptist Church, Wagoner, OK

Rick Boyne

Message Point: Anything of significance is accomplished by the Spirit of God; not in your own power.

Focus Passage: Zechariah 4:6

Supplemental Passage: Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the LORD, our God. (Psalms 20:7 NASB)

Introduction: Too often, we rely on ourselves to “get the job done.” We don’t pray, we don’t seek God’s face or direction, we just do what we feel is right. By doing so, we take God completely out of the equation, even if it is FOR Him that we are doing something. The old bumper sticker what right when it said, “Let Go and Let God!”

I. Not by might

a. Strength/Stamina

b. Knowledge/Wisdom

II. Not by power

a. Rule/Authority

b. Influence/Resources

III. By the Spirit of the Lord

a. To accomplish anything in the spiritual or eternal realm, it must be completed by the Lord

b. Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. (Psalms 127:1 NASB)

Application/Invitation: Rely on God to accomplish things in your life. Don't trust your God-given talents without God! Don't allow yourself to attempt anything for God without God!
