Preach Christmas week
This sermon emphasizes our reliance on God's power, not our own, to overcome challenges and instills hope and courage through faith in His constant presence.
Welcome, dear friends. We gather today in the spirit of togetherness and hope. We have a powerful message to share. It is a message that will lift your hearts. It will fill you with hope. It will remind you of the power that lies within you. And it will guide you in times of uncertainty.
Opening Scripture Reading – Our message today is inspired by the words of Zechariah. In Zechariah 4:6, the Scripture says, 'Then he said to me, 'This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.''
These words remind us of our own limits. They remind us that our strength is not enough. But they also remind us of a greater power. A power that can help us overcome any obstacle. A power that is not our own, but comes from God.
G.K. Chesterton once said, 'Courage is almost a contradiction in terms. It means a desire to live taking the form of a readiness to die.' In our lives, we face many challenges. We face moments that test our courage. But in these moments, we are not alone.
God is always with us. He gives us the strength to face our challenges. He gives us the power to overcome our obstacles. And He gives us the courage to keep going, even when times are tough.
In the face of adversity, we often find ourselves relying on our own strength. We push and push, trying to overcome the obstacles in our path. We believe that if we just try hard enough, if we just give it our all, we can conquer anything. But there comes a point where our strength fails us. We reach the end of our rope. We find that our might is not enough.
Our weakness is meant to humble us. It's a moment of realization. We see that we are not as powerful as we thought we were. We see that our abilities are limited. We see that we can't do it all on our own. And in this moment of realization, we are stripped of our strength. But this is not a moment of defeat. It's a moment of opportunity. It's a chance for us to see a greater power at work. It's a chance for us to rely on something beyond ourselves. It's a chance for us to experience the power of God's Spirit.
God's Spirit is not like our own strength. God's Spirit is not a force, he’s a person. He’s a presence to be experienced. It's not a tool in our hands. It's a power that works in us and through us. He’s not a means to an end, but the source of our life and our strength. He's not limited. He’s not finite. He’s not dependent on our abilities or our efforts. He’s a power that is beyond our understanding. He’s a power that can do far more than we could ever imagine. This power is also for living our lives. He’s for facing our challenges. He’s for dealing with our struggles.
When we rely on God's Spirit, we are not just empowered. We are transformed. We are not just strengthened. We are renewed. We are not just enabled. We are equipped. We are not just supported. We are sustained. We are not just helped. We are upheld. In our weakness, God's strength is made perfect. In our insufficiency, His sufficiency is revealed. In our inability, His ability is demonstrated. In our limitations, His limitless power is displayed.
In the context of Zechariah's words, we find ourselves standing on the precipice of understanding, gazing into the vast expanse of God's prevailing power ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
