God wants to be found and is always close to us, and we must continually seek a deeper relationship with Him through wholehearted pursuit.

Introduction

Ladies and gentlemen, brothers and sisters, it's truly wonderful to see all of your smiling faces today as we gather to worship and seek the Lord together. Have you ever felt like God is distant or hard to find? Well, I have some incredible news for you today: God wants to be found and He is closer than you think! No matter what situation you find yourself in, our loving Father is right there with you, waiting for you to seek Him with all your might.

A.W. Tozer once said, "To have found God and still to pursue Him is the soul's paradox of love." Even when we feel like we've found God, our pursuit of Him should never cease. We ought to continually seek a deeper, more intimate relationship with our Creator.

In Deuteronomy 4:29, we find this promise from God:

"But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul."

Let's start our time together in prayer, inviting the Lord to reveal Himself to us as we seek Him today.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for gathering us together in Your presence today. As we dive into Your Word and explore the truth that You want to be found, help us to truly seek You with all our heart and soul. Open our eyes, Lord, to see you in every situation and to experience Your love and grace in new ways. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Now let's dive in!

God Wants to be Found

The idea that God wants to be found is a truth that is woven throughout the tapestry of Scripture and is central to the very nature of God. In a world where people often feel lost, alone, and disconnected, the notion that the Creator of the universe desires to be found by His creation is a profound and life-changing revelation.

One aspect of this idea is that God has always been actively seeking a relationship with humanity. From the very beginning, when Adam and Eve sinned and hid from God in the Garden of Eden, God called out to them, asking, "Where are you?" (Genesis 3:9). This question was not one of ignorance, as if God did not know where they were, but rather one of invitation, beckoning them to come out of hiding and into a restored relationship with Him.

Throughout the Old Testament, we see God continually reaching out to His people, inviting them to return to Him and experience His love and forgiveness. The prophets were sent to call the people back to God, and even when they faced rejection and persecution, God's message remained the same: "Return to me, and I will return to you" (Zechariah 1:3).

In the New Testament, we see the ultimate expression of God's desire to be found in the person of Jesus Christ. Jesus came to earth as God in human form, making the invisible God visible and accessible to all who would seek Him. Jesus declared, "Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father" (John 14:9), and His life, death, and resurrection provided the way for us to be reconciled to God and experience a personal relationship with Him.

Another aspect of this idea is that God has made it possible for us to find Him by revealing Himself to us in various ways. One of the primary ways God has revealed Himself is through His Word, the Bible. The Scriptures are filled with descriptions of God's character, His actions in history, and His promises for the future. As we read and study the Bible, we come to know God more intimately and discover His heart for us.

God has also revealed Himself through creation. The beauty, complexity, and order of the natural world all point to the existence of a Creator who is both powerful and wise. As the apostle Paul wrote, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made" (Romans 1:20).

Additionally, God has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit, who dwells within every believer and guides us into a deeper understanding of God and His ways. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would "teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you" (John 14:26). As we seek God through prayer and meditation, the Holy Spirit helps us to discern His voice and experience His presence in our lives.

A third aspect is that He has promised to reveal Himself to those who earnestly seek Him. As mentioned earlier, Deuteronomy 4:29 assures us that if we search for God with all our heart and soul, we will find Him. This promise is echoed in other passages of Scripture, such as Jeremiah 29:13, which says, "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

The key to finding God, then, is not merely a casual or half-hearted pursuit, but rather a wholehearted, passionate seeking that involves every aspect of our being. When we approach our search for God with this level of intensity and commitment, we can be confident that He will reveal Himself to us in powerful and life-transforming ways.

Even after we have come to know God personally through faith in Jesus Christ, we are called to continually seek a deeper relationship with Him and to grow in our understanding of His ways. As the apostle Paul wrote, "I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death" (Philippians 3:10).

This ongoing pursuit of God is not a burdensome duty, but rather a joyful privilege that flows from a heart that has been captivated by God's love and grace. As we seek God and experience more of His presence and power in our lives, our love for Him grows, and our desire to know Him more intimately becomes even stronger.

Pastor, here would be a good place to share a personal story about finding God.
