Summary: There is a phrase in the Bible that transitions from any given situation to an act of God. It is inspiring to read as a Christian the phrase "But God". I share some that are meaningful to me.

But God

Genesis 50:15-21

There are times in our lives when the intentions of some toward us are not good and there are others things concerning us we are so undeserving.

There is a phrase that changes the dynamics of all these things that should mean so very much to each of us and that phrase is “But God”

See: Genesis 50:20 Joseph said unto his brethren you meant in for evil against me; but God meant it for good.

Oh where would we be if it had not been for God standing in our defense? I certainly would not even like to entertain that thought.

1. God’s Protection

Genesis 45:8 Joseph said in all that had happened unto him it was God that made him a father unto Pharaoh.

In the book of Acts 7:9 Stephen speaking on this matter said the patriarchs moved with envy sold Joseph into Egypt, but God was with him.

See: Genesis 31:5, 7 We find God standing on Jacob behalf even in all of Jacob’s deceptions keeping him from unnecessary hurt.

Mention: 1 Samuel 23:14 It says that Saul sought David’s life, but God delivered him not into his hand

Also: 2 Chronicles 20:15 Jehoshaphat was told the battle was not his, but God’s

See: 1 Cor. 10:13 But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able…

See: Exodus 13:17-18 But God led…

2. God’s Path

Mention: Psalms 119:105 His Word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path

Before accepting Christ as my savior I was going in a different direction, but God led me in another direction.

Mention: Psalms 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD

See: 1 Sam. 2:9 Hannah in her prayer said “He will keep the feet of his saints”

See: Psalms 73:24-26 The Psalmist said “But God is the strength of my heart”

3. God’s Preparation

It’s true we do not know what God is doing most of the time in our lives but we do know this, that whatever it is He is using it to prepare us for what’s ahead.

Mention: Romans 8:28 This verse certainly tell us when considering the following verses of how He is conforming us into the image of His Son.

1 Cor. 15:10 but by the grace of God I am what I am

4. God’s Passion

See: Romans 5:6-8 But God commendeth…

Mention: John 3:16

And: Romans 8:35-38 Nothing can separate us from His love

See: Romans 6:23

5. God’s Propitiation

1 John 2:2 He is the propitiation for our sins…

See: Ephesians 2:1-5 But God, who is rich in mercy…

See: Psalms 49:15 But God redeemed my soul from the grave

6. God’s Provision

Philippians 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches and glory

Mention: Psalms 37:25 I been young and now I am old and I have never seen the righteous forsaken not his seed begging bread.

There are times in our lives when it is very clear and we say with absolute assurance and joy “but God”

Joseph said You meant it for evil against me, but God meant it for good
