"Building Our Faith on a Firm Foundation" Hebrews 11:1

Good Morning

Stand with me and lift your bible and repeat after me.

This is my Bible.

I am what it says I am.

I can do what it says I can do.

I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.

Today I will learn more of the word of God.

The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.

I will never be the same.

I will never be the same.

In Jesus Name

Amen?

Before you sit down, say good morning to your brothers and sisters.

Today’s message is about our Faith.

There are all kinds of faith.

Faith that you call will start when you need it.

Faith that your cell phone will work.

Faith that will recover quickly when we have a health issue.

Faith is the bedrock of our Christian Walk.

It’s what keeps us anchored in life’s storms, guiding us when we feel lost. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith as "the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

But faith doesn’t just appear—it’s something we build and nurture over time.

Today, we’ll explore ways to actively build our faith and live in the confidence of God’s promises.

There are several ways to have faith.

1. Building Faith through God’s Word**

Romans 10:17 tells us, "Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God."

Imagine a woman named Sarah, who was diagnosed with a serious illness.

The prognosis was uncertain, and Sarah’s world seemed to crumble around her.

But instead of giving in to fear, she turned to God’s Word. Every morning, she would sit with her Bible, reading promises of hope and healing.

Verses like Isaiah 41:10—"Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God"—became her lifeline. Day by day, the Word renewed her strength, and her faith grew.

As she read, her perspective shifted from fear to faith, trusting God more deeply each day. Eventually, Sarah experienced a remarkable improvement, but more than that, she came out with a stronger, unshakable faith.

Through her journey, Sarah learned that God’s Word wasn’t just words on a page but a source of living power that builds faith from within.

2. Building Faith through Prayer and Worship

Prayer and worship are acts of faith that draw us close to God.

They’re reminders that we’re not alone and that we serve a powerful, loving Father.

Consider the story of Daniel in the lion’s den. Here was a man who refused to let go of his faith, even when it meant risking his life. He continued praying three times a day, despite knowing he would be thrown into the lions' den.

Daniel’s prayers and worship showed he trusted God completely, even in the face of death. And God delivered him because of that unwavering faith. This story reminds us that prayer and worship aren’t just rituals—they’re expressions of our faith and trust.

When we pray and worship, even in difficult times, we declare that God is greater than our fears.

3. Building Faith through Trials and Obedience

James 1:2-3 tells us, "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."

Imagine a young man named David, who lost everything in a business failure. He felt broken and defeated. But instead of giving up, he decided to obey what he felt God was asking of him—he began volunteering his skills at a local charity.

While he didn’t know where his next paycheck would come from, he trusted that God would provide. Through his obedience, even in tough circumstances, his faith grew.

Months later, his acts of service opened doors he never expected, leading to a new job and a fresh start. David’s story reminds us that obedience in trials is often the pathway to growth.

When we step out in faith, even when things seem bleak, God shows up.

4. Building Faith in Community

God designed us to grow in faith together.

Hebrews 10:24-25 encourages us to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together...but encouraging one another."

Think of a woman named Maria who had recently lost her husband. Her grief was overwhelming, and she found herself sinking into isolation. But her church community wouldn’t let her stay there. They showed up, prayed with her, brought meals, and simply listened.

Through this love and support, Maria found the strength to hold on to her faith. She began attending a small group and found that others had walked through similar hardships.

Together, they encouraged each other, prayed together, and lifted each other up. Maria discovered that God’s love often flows through community, and her faith became stronger because of it.
