Summary: Brokenness is God’s way of beautifying you i.e. making you more beautiful. If God allows and leads you along the path of brokenness, it is not to destroy you, but for you to find and experience the sweet and comforting love of Jesus Christ in that broken situation.
Brokenness is God’s way of beautifying you i.e. making you more beautiful. If God allows and leads you along the path of brokenness, it is not to destroy you, but for you to find and experience the sweet and comforting love of Jesus Christ in that broken situation. In 1 Samuel 30:6, when David was in a broken situation where he was on the verge of being stoned, he found his strength in the Lord and he strengthened himself. We also find and experience our strength in our broken situations by the sweet comforting love of Jesus. The greater the brokenness or broken situation, the more greater is the sweet comforting love of Jesus that will envelope our lives.
Many saints who were greatly used by God experienced deep brokenness, but in their deep brokenness they experienced the vast comforting love of Jesus. Not only did Jesus’ immense comforting love benefit them, but it also benefited millions around them. It’s no surprise that Jesus is known as the Lily of the Valleys or the Rose of Sharon. What makes our broken situations or valleys beautiful is the lilies i.e. the revelations of Jesus which shines and radiates in and through our lives for others to see. A person in a broken situation always has some beautiful insights or revelations of Jesus Christ’s love that they have experienced. These insights of Jesus’ sweet and comforting love are the lilies that will shine in our valleys. In your lifetime, how many lilies in your valleys did you collect as trophies?
These revelations or insights of Jesus will provide you strength and sustain you in your valleys. God’s way of beautifying you is to fill your brokenness with the sweet soothing and comforting love of Jesus. If God calls you for a great work, be prepared to experience deeper brokenness (do not attempt to manufacture brokenness or broken situations on your own). Brokenness does not result from living an unholy sinful life, but from experiencing broken situations despite living a holy life and doing God’s will. God’s great work is done by broken people in their brokenness. God’s team of saints are made up of more broken people than strong people. There are more valleys than mountains. God’s brokenness is for your benefit. If you are going through brokenness, pray to God to let you experience the sweet and comforting love of Jesus Christ.
