Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Jesus takes our brokenness and makes us whole. He uses our failures and the brokenness of the world to restore and repair us, making us more beautiful and valuable.
Hey guys, ever had a favorite toy or gadget that broke? You know, like when your phone screen cracks or your favorite game console stops working. It's a bummer, right? You might even feel like it's useless now. But what if I told you that broken things can become even more valuable?
Today, we're going to talk about what Jesus does with our brokenness. You know, we all have broken parts. Maybe you've messed up big time, or maybe you're just feeling the weight of living in a world that's not always fair. But here's the cool part: Jesus can take our brokenness and turn it into something beautiful.
Jesus can take our brokenness and turn it into something beautiful.
Let's look at a verse from the Bible, Luke 22:19. It says, 'After taking the bread and giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.' Jesus was talking to his friends during a special meal called the Passover. It was a time when they remembered how God saved their ancestors from slavery. And in this moment, Jesus was showing them that He was about to do something even bigger. He was about to take on all the brokenness of the world.
First, let's talk about our own brokenness, our mistakes, our failures. In the old days, people would offer sacrifices to make up for their wrongs. But Jesus changed all that. He became the ultimate sacrifice, taking on all our guilt and mistakes. So, when we mess up, Jesus takes our brokenness and gives us peace.
But what about the brokenness of the world? Like when bad things happen that we can't control. Remember the story of Lazarus? His sisters, Martha and Mary, were upset that Jesus didn't prevent Lazarus from dying. They were looking for prevention, but Jesus was all about redemption. He doesn't just stop bad things from happening; He takes those broken pieces and makes something beautiful. Jesus takes the brokenness of the world and gives us hope.
Here's a cool object lesson. In Japan, there's an art called kintsugi, where they fix broken pottery with gold. The broken pieces become more beautiful and valuable than before. That's what Jesus does with our brokenness.
So, where are you feeling broken? Maybe you've messed up, or maybe you're just feeling the weight of the world. Whatever it is, give it to Jesus. Let Him take your brokenness and turn it into something beautiful.
Let's pray together. God, thank you for taking our brokenness and making it beautiful. Help us to trust you with our mistakes and the brokenness of the world. Amen.
