Summary: Friend, allow God to move on your behalf; silence should be the ‘treasure’ that we need to possess!

Bridle your tongue!

James 3:2”We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check.”

We have a clear challenge for us in this scripture: “Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect!.” Do not feel bad when you read this message and curl into your shell like a snail and say, “I cannot live up to the standard of God”; instead first identify your weakness today. Are you listening? Millions of sermons cannot change you if you have not realized your weak points! It takes guts to admit mistakes and grit to set out to correct them! Friend, allow God to move on your behalf; silence should be the ‘treasure’ that we need to possess! Arguments, debates, quarrels, tit for tat attitude should cease! They are from the devil! James 3:14 “But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. 15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.” Friend, we may not be perfect people but God surely would like to help us be one! Let us stop giving excuses for our silly behavior by saying, “I am just human” and let us be people who would run the extra mile for God and be super man and woman for God. Won’t you? Hold your tongue! Speak less! Proverbs 12:14 “ A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth..”

Our words reflect our character! We live in a wicked world where people just about say anything and everything to get their way through, but folks we need to be different. But sadly, we see even church-going, Bible-reading Christians use their mouth flippantly and carelessly. We may be highly learned, theologically equipped, smart and confident; yet, if we are not people who firmly keep up a promise, then all our accolades stand of no value, they have lost the sheen! Proverbs 13:3 “He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. “

You need to have an aggressive urge for change! I have a sharp tongue and I will cut you to pieces with it should not be your motive; instead, you should have a passionate desire to be like Jesus! Amen. I face a herculean task of bringing order in our School (Abide School) where there is a mix of all kinds of children: fights, quarrel, noise fill the air! Living in the midst of such chaos everyday drives me up the wall at times; however, I sow the Word of God every day during the morning and evening prayer and trust God to bring about changes. The Bible says: “The wise of heart will receive commandments, but a babbling fool will come to ruin.” (Proverbs 10:8)

Use your tongue to bless and not to curse!
