Summary: EVERY THING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD.

BREATH OF PRAISE

OBSERVATION: THE WESTMINSTER CATECHISM STATES THAT MAN’S CHIEF END IS TO GLORIFY GOD AND ENJOY HIM FOREVER.

INTERPRETATION: PSALM 96:4 (NKJV) FOR THE LORD IS GREAT AND GREATLY TO BE PRAISED; HE IS TO BE FEARED ABOVE ALL GODS.

POINTS TO PONDER: THIS SCRIPTURE SPEAKS TO THE ISSUE OF WORSHIPING FALSE IDOLS.

IDOL WORSHIP PRODUCES NOTHING BUT SENSELESS VANITY. THE PSALMIST CALLES THEM “NO GODS” ONLY IDOL STONES, DEAF AND SPEECHLESS. IDOL WORSHIP WAS ADDRESSED IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS (EXODUS 20: 3-5).

PSALMS 50:23 (NKJV) WHOSOEVER OFFERS PRAISE GLORIFIES ME AND TO HIM WHO ORDERS HIS CONDUCT ARIGHT I WILL SHOW THE SALVATION OF GOD.

PSALMS 95:6-7 SUGGEST A PLACE OF WORSHIP, HIS SANCTUARY. COMMUNAL PRAISE WITH FELLOW BELIEVERS IS POWERFUL. COME, LET US WORSHIP AND BOW DOWN, LET US KNEEL BEFORE THE LORD OUR MAKER.

WHO ENGAGES IN PRAISE? VERSES 96: 11-13 SUGGESTS ALL NATURE: THAT SAID, MAN SHOULD BE THE CHOIR DIRECTOR.

APPLICATION: PSALM 150: 6 SAYS IT ALL. LET EVERYTHING THAT HAS BREATH PRAISE THE LORD!
