This sermon's main point is to encourage us to trust, yield, and wait on God, knowing that He is with us and ready to lead us to breakthroughs in our lives.
Good morning, family. I hope you're all feeling the blessing of God's presence today. We're going to dive into a powerful message about waiting on the Lord, renewing our strength, and experiencing breakthrough.
In his book, "Waiting on God," Andrew Murray, a South African pastor and writer, penned these words: "God is ready to assume full responsibility for the life wholly yielded to Him."
Murray’s statement is profound, isn't it? We just need to trust, yield, and wait.
Our scripture is from 2 Chronicles 20:17:
You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the LORD is with you.
Let us pray. Father, we thank you for your Word and your promises. As we unpack this message today, we ask you to open our hearts and minds. Teach us to wait on you, renew our strength, and lead us to the breakthrough you've planned for us. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Alright, let's dig in and discover what God has in store for us today…
To wait on the Lord is a call to patience, trust, and surrender. This is an active waiting, where we engage in prayer, worship, and service while we wait for God's timing.
It is a time of spiritual growth and preparation, where we learn to rely on God's wisdom and strength rather than our own.
Waiting on the Lord requires us to trust in His timing. God's timing is perfect, even when it doesn't align with our own expectations or desires. We live in a world that values instant gratification and quick results, but God often works in ways that are slow and gradual, allowing us to develop patience and endurance. Waiting on the Lord means trusting that He knows what is best for us and that His plans for us are good. It means believing that He is working behind the scenes, even when we can't see the results.
Waiting on the Lord also involves surrender. It means letting go of our own plans and desires and submitting to God's will. This can be a difficult process, as it involves giving up control and acknowledging that we don't have all the answers. But it is also a liberating process, as it frees us from the burden of trying to figure everything out on our own. When we surrender to God, we allow Him to lead us and guide us in ways that we could never imagine on our own.
Furthermore, waiting on the Lord is a time of spiritual growth and preparation. As we wait, we are given the opportunity to grow in our faith and deepen our relationship with God. We learn to rely on Him for strength and guidance, and we develop a deeper understanding of His character and His love for us. This time of waiting can also prepare us for the plans that God has for us, equipping us with the skills, knowledge, and character traits that we will need to fulfill His purposes.
Waiting on the Lord can be very hard. It can be a time of uncertainty and discomfort. But it is also a time of great potential and promise. As we wait on the Lord, we learn to trust in His timing, surrender to His will, and grow in our faith. We are prepared and equipped for the plans that He has for us, and we are given the opportunity to experience His presence in a deeper and more profound way.
Pastor: Take a few minutes to share a personal story about a time when you had to wait on the Lord. Your experiences could provide a powerful illustration of these principles and help your congregation better connect and apply these truths in their own lives.
