Breaking The Yoke Of Debt

Summary: Many people one way or the other found themselves in debt today and they need a way out, the one that can liberate us and take us out of that debt is God
The aim of this lesson is to let you know that it is not the will of God for you to be in debt, many people one way or the other found themselves in debt today and they need a way out, the one that can liberate us and take us out of that debt is God, he wants His children to enjoy this prosperity as well but there are certain things that put people into problem, these are the things we need to take care of and try to avoid.
Outline
1. What is debt? A sum of money that somebody owes. Ii. Situation of owing money
Note: Owing money is not applicable to a particular set of people or to a particular social set, the rich are owing, the poor are owing, believers are owing, unbelievers but it is not the will of God for you to be a debtor
2. Causes of debt
i. Poor money management
ii. 5 P letter: Poor preparation produces poor performances
Proper planning prevent poor performances
iii. Inability to plan for your money (scale of preference)
iv. Gambling and investing your money in wonder banks
v. Menial expenses – Biscuits, sweet etc
vi. Expensive Phones and electrical appliances, luxurious cars etc
vii. Saving little or not at all
viii. Financial Illiteracy
ix. Ceremony dress and unnecessary party – Naming, birthday, wedding etc
x. Diversification of programme
Note: Inability to plan leads to debt, don’t buy what you don’t plan for
Do not obtain loan for feeding
3. Way out. II Kings 4: 1 – 7
i. Go to the right source or person v 1 & 2 (she went to the true prophet of God)
ii. Give the right answer to questions asked v 2 (she did not beg for alms)
iii. Acknowledge the gift and grace of God in your life – She almost forgot she had a pot of oil, recognize your God given gifts, endeavour to do well in your academic career, the work you learn and the business you are doing
iv. Yield to instructions given to you and do not be too proud to mingle with people v 3 – 6 (God will use people for you to raise you up, pocket your pride)
v. Remember to re-visit your prophet when the miracle has taken place (The woman came back to Elisha she was not too wise in her own eyes)
vi. Plan to start new business v 7.
The prophet instructed her to pay her debt and to start a new business of oil selling so that she can live on it wither children. SHE DOES NOT NEED TO LOOK FOR THE PROPHET FOR SURVIVAL ANYMORE.
Conclusion: Pray that God should pay all your debt and take practical steps for getting delivered from debt
