BREAKING SATAN’S HOLD ON YOUR FLESH

Mark 5:2-17

2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit,

3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains:

4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him.

5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.

6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him,

7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.

8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.

11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.

12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.

13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.

14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.

15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.

17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.

The life and times of Jesus are a means by which we learn to live the Christian life.

It is not merely a reference time in history, but a map by which we can discern the path to follow at any given time in our life.

When studying the life of Jesus we quickly discover that he was not afraid of anything.

When faced with obstacles that would have beaten any man, Jesus always proved to be a victor.

Making something out of nothing was not a struggle.

1) Wedding at Cana.

a) Ran out of wine.

b) Host is due to be greatly embarrassed.

c) Like a mother, Mary notices a humiliation about to happen and summons for Jesus.

d) Servants.

i) It’s not my time.

ii) Do whatever he tells you to do.

2) To a lesser man this would have meant disaster.

a) But this is not a lesser man.

b) This is God in the flesh.

c) Gather and fill the water pots.

d) Draw out the water.

3) Somewhere between the well and the ladle the miracle occurred!

a) The God that had created the worlds with his voice.

b) The God that had formed man with his hands.

c) Moved by the water and the very touch of his presence changed water to wine!

Somebody needs to hear what I am preaching to you tonight! You have been feeling the impending doom of being without, but I have come to tell you that if you will fill the water pots, somewhere between the well and the ladle there is a miracle waiting for you!

You feel like you have nothing to offer. Nothing of value for the God of glory, but I want you to know, all he wants from you is your nothingness! With that he can make your life the absolute best!

You will find that he will give you the best from the start and it only gets better with time!

Disease and sickness was no match for Jesus.

1) Man at pool.

2) Been in his condition for over 30 years.

a) Someone carried him to the pool in hopes of a miracle.

b) Looking for angel’s wing ripples.

c) Struggling for a miracle.

3) Sir would you be made whole?

a) You don’t understand….

b) I’ve been this way for years, been coming here for years.

c) My desire is there, just no help.

4) Sir would you be made whole?

a) No, you don’t understand.

b) I am not merely a helper.
