Sermons

Summary: This message was written to accompany our recognition of those who had served within the ministry of our church during the year.

Born To Serve

Mark 10:45, Philippians 2:5-7

December 12, 2004

Mark 10:45 (NLT)

For even I, the Son of Man, came here not to be served but to serve others, and to give my life as a ransom for many."

Philippians 2:5-7 (NLT)

Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. [6] Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. [7] He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.

Service In Life

- Jesus served others as a tangible demonstration of God’s love

– Water into wine

– Feeding of the 5,000

– Healing the sick

– Ministry to the children

Service In Death

- Jesus died that we might live

Romans 5:10 (NLT)

For since we were restored to friendship with God by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be delivered from eternal punishment by his life.

Service In Death

- Jesus died that we might live

– Our relationship with God is restored

– Our sin has been forgiven

– The door to eternal life is now open

Saved To Serve

Galatians 5:13

For you have been called to live in freedom—not freedom to satisfy your sinful nature, but freedom to serve one another in love.

Every Christian Has a Role

- The Holy Spirit has given each Christian a spiritual gift

1 Corinthians 12:7 (NLT)

A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire church.

Every Christian Has a Role

- The Holy Spirit has given each Christian a spiritual gift

– For the benefit of the entire body of Christ

– To demonstrate the love of Christ to others
