Summary: When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we have the capacity to love in the very same way God loves. But so many Christians don't understand what it means to love like God loves.

But until we have more love flowing out of us that we need to have flowing out of us, faith is going to be a premium. It’s going to be rare. We need to let the love out that is in us! We are stopping the love with how we think. I’m going to give you some examples.

If God is love, what we’re about to read in First Corinthians 13 is an expanded definition of who God is. And it’s also an expanded definition of who we are.

I Corinthians 13:1-8

(1) For though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

(2) And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

(3) And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

(4) Charity (Love) suffereth long, and is kind; charity (love) envieth not; charity (love) vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

Love says it’s not all about me. Love is about what I can do for you as it relates to kingdom purposes. If God is love, and what is the signature thing God did because He’s love – He gave. That’s the signature thing that He did. That should be “the” thing that we do!

(5) Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

I want to give you a definition of what it means “to behave unseemingly”. It means “to behave in an ugly and unbecoming manner. Indicates behavior that has little regard or respect for others”.

Love does not behave itself unseemingly. Let me ask you a question ladies and gentlemen. Is there a lot of unseeming behavior in the Body of Christ when it comes to political discussions? Yes. Was there a lot of unseeming behavior in the Body of Christ when the previous president was in office? Yes.

And the Bible says that is not who we are. But we have gotten to the point that we’re putting our spirits under subjection to our souls. This is what we have done in the church. For the most part, when it comes to how we speak about the things in the realm of politics, Christians are no different than the person who does not know God because we still operate the same way.

It blows my mind how people, who profess to be Christians, are disrespecting our president. I felt the same way when Christians disrespected former president Obama.

Ladies and gentlemen, Christians shouldn’t operate that way. We shouldn’t! But we do and when we do we are in sin. God didn’t treat us unseeming. He gave His son for us. God was saying that even though we’re worlds apart, I love you enough to give you a chance to become part of My world.

Do you see the phrase “thinketh no evil”? It means that you have in your mind a mental ledger of the wrongs people have done to you that you have not forgotten. You have not forgiven them. You are holding on to unforgiveness.

Do you want to know why marriages fail? The spouse has done something that the other one has not forgotten and cannot let it go. They’re holding on to it and their holding on to it in unforgiveness.
