Summary: Praying at all times! Praying with perseverance! I’m not talking about a dull, sleepy, flippant and quick prayer, I’m talking about praying till it pains.

Borewells! Day 37 of 40 days of fasting!

Ephesians 6:18 ‘praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints..’

Praying at all times! Praying with perseverance! I’m not talking about a dull, sleepy, flippant and quick prayer, I’m talking about praying till it pains. Are you listening? Jesus did that. He prayed until he sweat blood, read, “And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.” (Luke 22:44) I have watched workers dig deep bore-wells to draw water and the gigantic machines working on the hard ground and breaking the fallow surface and digging deeper is scary and awe-inspiring! The noise is deafening and the dust that emancipates during the process is huge; the entire surrounding area is shaken. This drilling at times goes on for hours and sometimes through the night…..I wonder at the patience, hard work, perseverance and hope of the workers as they go deeper and deeper and deeper seeking water! Finally when they hit water and when it gushes out – it is time for joy! The cheer spreads! Listen!

For several days we suffered without a drop of water during this summer in our Abide School, we had to get water from outside for drinking, cooking and usage for the children. It was tiring, hectic, strenuous and zapping our energy. We survived on corporation water since the motor was not working and the ground water went dry as well, now that the corporation water also failed us, the situation was dry! The reports in the area was not encouraging because people said trying to dig deeper would be futile because there was no ground water in that particular area, expenses would be huge and due to elections none cared to attend to the water problem. Have you experienced a dry season? Many of us have. When things look bleak, blurry and uncertain, it is time to turn your eyes above from where the help comes. Hallelujah!

We now took the matter to God in prayer, children started praying in the morning and evening, we started moving with lot of faith and trust in His power. We called the plumber and starting working on the motor, as well as checking on ground water; as we were working on this God moved the corporation officials and released the water. Simultaneously miracle happened with both our motor and underground water getting released. Now, we have ample water in our school! Glory to Jesus! Don’t give up! Keep digging deep! Are you listening? Don’t give ears to negative reviews! Trust His promises and keep moving- looking ahead! Nothing can be achieved if you are munching popcorn, watching movies, uploading silly photos on FB and shaking your legs! Do some hard prayer! I write this devotion in the night after a whole day of hard toil, running around in the sweltering heat; however, that did not stop me from writing and working for my Lord till last minute of the day. I could have curled up in the bed, I sure deserved the rest; yet I chose to sit up, write and pray till midnight. You don’t get rewards without sowing, are you listening? Pray for your partners, your kids, your business, your work spot, your supervisors at work, keep taking them to God in prayers. Separate time consistently and pray, keep prayer points with you and do it meticulously, don’t be shoddy and nonchalant with spiritual matters. God blesses sincere work.

“To say prayers in a decent, delicate way is not heavy work. But to pray really, to pray till hell feels the ponderous stroke, to pray till the iron gates of difficulty are opened, till the mountains of obstacles are removed, till the mists are exhaled and the clouds are lifted, and the sunshine of a cloudless day brightens – this is hard work, but it is God’s work and man’s labour.”
