VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. After reading of the Book of the Law by Moses

1. Moses took the blood of slain calves and goats, together with water

2. Moses added the scarlet wool, with a bunch of hyssop

"For when every command of the Law had been read out by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of slain calves and goats, together with water and scarlet wool and with a bunch of hyssop,"

a. blood of slain calves and goats - symbolizes the blood of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.

Hebrews 9:12 (Amplified Bible)

9:12 He went once for all into the [Holy of] Holies [of heaven], not by virtue of the blood of goats and calves [by which to make reconciliation between God and man], but His own blood, having found and secured a complete redemption (an everlasting release for us).

Hebrews 10:4-10 (Amplified Bible)

10:4 Because the blood of bulls and goats is powerless to take sins away.

10:5 Hence, when He [Christ] entered into the world, He said, Sacrifices and offerings You have not desired, but instead You have made ready a body for Me [to offer];

10:6 In burnt offerings and sin offerings You have taken no delight.

10:7 Then I said, Behold, here I am, coming to do Your will, O God—[to fulfill] what is written of Me in the volume of the Book.

10:8 When He said just before, You have neither desired, nor have You taken delight in sacrifices and offerings and burnt offerings and sin offerings—all of which are offered according to the Law—

10:9 He then went on to say, Behold, [here] I am, coming to do Your will. Thus He does away with and annuls the first (former) order [as a means of expiating sin] so that He might inaugurate and establish the second (latter) order.

10:10 And in accordance with this will [of God], we have been made holy (consecrated and sanctified) through the offering made once for all of the body of Jesus Christ (the Anointed One).

b. scarlet wool - symbolizes the covering of the LORD JESUS CHRIST when He was presented to the people as a sacrifice. (can be crimson red or purple)

Mark 15:17 (Amplified Bible)

15:17 And they dressed Him in [a] purple [robe], and, weaving together a crown of thorns, they placed it on Him.

John 19:2 (Amplified Bible)

19:2 And the soldiers, having twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on His head, and threw a purple cloak around Him.

Leviticus 14:49-52 (Amplified Bible)

14:49 He shall take to cleanse the house two birds, cedar wood, scarlet [material], and hyssop;

14:50 And he shall kill one of the birds in an earthen vessel over running water,

14:51 And he shall take the cedar wood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet [material], and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times.

14:52 And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, the running water, the living bird, the cedar wood, the hyssop, and the scarlet [material].

Since JESUS represents sin and He literally became sin for us so we can be the righteousness of GOD in Him, scarlet (red) was put on Him and the wool represents our cleansing.

Isaiah 1:18 (Amplified Bible)

1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord. Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be like wool.
