Contributed by Monte Brown on Sep 17, 2007 (message contributor)
Summary: There are spiritual blessings that are ours because we have been adopted into the family of God.
Introduction
The key thought in chapter one is the wealth of
blessings we have as Christians. These spiritual
blessings that are ours because we have been adopted
into the family of God.
Chapter one lets us know that each person that is in
the family of God ahs been blessed. When we
communicate to God through prayer we will begin to
understand these blessings and the power they can
have over our lives.

1. He has Chosen Us verses 3-4
The doctrine of election cannot be fully understood,
but one can fully enjoy. It would be foolish to try
to explain away the mystery of grace. God did not
choose us in ourselves; He chose us in Christ, by
grace.
For you see your calling, brethren, that not many
wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not
many noble, are called.
27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world
to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the
weak things of the world to put to shame the
things which are mighty;
28 and the base things of the world and the things
which are despised God has chosen, and the things
which are not, to bring to nothing the things that
are,
29 that no flesh should glory in His presence.
1 Corinthians 1:26-29
But we are bound to give thanks to God always for
you, brethren beloved by the Lord, because God from
the beginning chose you for salvation through
sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth,
14 to which He called you by our gospel, for the
obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 2:13-14
All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and
the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.
John 6:37
2. He has Adopted Us verse 5
Election refers to a person’s predestination. God
elects us to be saints set-apart ones, then
predestines that certain purpose in our lives shall
come to pass.
And we know that all things work together for good to
those who love God, to those who are the called
according to His purpose. Romans 8:28
3. He has Accepted Us verse 6
In ourselves, we are not acceptable to God, but in
Christ, we are made accepted.
