INTRODUCTION:

Wisdom is not merely intelligence or accumulated knowledge—it is the ability to apply God’s truth and principles rightly in every situation. It is a blessing that comes from God and elevates those who receive it. The Scriptures emphasise that wisdom is more precious than silver or gold, and those who embrace it experience stability and honour.

Many people struggle because they lack wisdom, making decisions based on emotions or worldly opinions instead of divine guidance. God’s wisdom transforms confusion into clarity and empowers believers to walk in excellence.

In our world today, where voices of deception and compromise are loud, the blessing of wisdom becomes indispensable. With wisdom, believers can build strong families, advance in their callings, and avoid costly mistakes. Wisdom ensures that our lives reflect the glory of God and fulfil His perfect will.

1. WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPAL THING

Wisdom is foundational for success and spiritual growth. Without wisdom, strength, wealth, or influence can be misused or wasted.

a) Priority of wisdom (Proverbs 4:7)

Wisdom should be sought above material possessions or worldly achievements, as it guides every other blessing.

b) Wisdom preserves life (Ecclesiastes 7:12)

It acts as a defence and shield, preventing destruction and equipping believers for victorious living.

c) Wisdom builds character (Proverbs 8:12-13)

God’s wisdom shapes our hearts, refining our attitudes and aligning us with His righteousness.

d) Wisdom glorifies God (1 Corinthians 1:30)

Wisdom reminds us that Christ is our ultimate source, and all glory must return to Him.

Biblical Example: King Solomon asked God for wisdom instead of riches or power, and God blessed him abundantly (1 Kings 3:5-13).

2. WISDOM BRINGS FAVOUR AND PROMOTION

Divine wisdom elevates and brings opportunities that hard work alone cannot achieve.

a) Wisdom opens doors (Proverbs 3:13-16)

It brings long life, honour, and prosperity, unlocking divine opportunities.

b) Wisdom produces favour (Luke 2:52)

Just as Jesus grew in wisdom and favour with God and men, so do believers who walk in wisdom.

c) Wisdom distinguishes you (Genesis 41:38-40)

Joseph’s wisdom distinguished him in Egypt, positioning him for greatness.

d) Wisdom attracts honour (Proverbs 4:8)

Those who embrace wisdom are honoured by both God and men.

Biblical Example: Daniel’s wisdom elevated him in Babylon, earning him respect even among kings (Daniel 1:17-20).

3. WISDOM GUIDES IN MAKING GODLY DECISIONS

The blessing of wisdom ensures that our choices align with God’s perfect plan.

a) Wisdom brings clarity (Proverbs 2:6)

God gives wisdom and understanding to guide our steps.

b) Wisdom prevents costly mistakes (Proverbs 14:12)

Human reasoning may fail, but God’s wisdom saves us from destructive paths.

c) Wisdom leads to righteousness (James 3:17)

God’s wisdom is pure, peaceable, and full of good fruits.

d) Wisdom discerns seasons (Ecclesiastes 8:5)

It helps us act appropriately in different times and circumstances.

Biblical Example: Nehemiah used wisdom in rebuilding Jerusalem’s walls, facing opposition with strategy and prayer (Nehemiah 2:17-20).

4. WISDOM IS A GIFT AVAILABLE TO ALL BELIEVERS

God offers wisdom generously to all who seek Him.

a) Wisdom comes from God (James 1:5)

We must ask God in faith, believing that He will give wisdom without reproach.

b) Wisdom grows through God’s Word (Psalm 119:98-100)

Scripture is a reservoir of wisdom for daily living.

c) Wisdom is cultivated through humility (Proverbs 11:2)

Humility positions us to receive divine instruction.

d) Wisdom is sustained by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2)

The Spirit of wisdom empowers us to live victoriously.

Biblical Example: The early church leaders sought God’s wisdom before choosing deacons, leading to harmony and growth (Acts 6:1-7).

CONCLUSION:

The blessing of wisdom is essential for victorious Christian living. It is more than intellectual ability—it is divine insight that brings favour, promotion, and peace. When wisdom is embraced, confusion is replaced by clarity, and failure is turned into success.

As believers, we must prioritise wisdom, seek it in prayer, and apply it diligently in our decisions. God is willing to pour out wisdom on all who ask, and when we walk in it, our lives will reflect His glory and purpose.
