Summary: How can you tell people what Jesus wants them to hear if you aren't listening to what He has to say?

Blessed Quietness
Luke 10:38-42
Proposition: You must sit down and shut up before you can stand up and speak up.
1.Because you need to see Jesus! vs 38
A. You do not know when He will speak! 38a (1 Kings 19:11-13)
B. You need to be available to receive Him! 38b
2. Because you want a better reputation! 38b-39
A. Martha was known as a believer! 38b
B. Mary was known as a disciple! 39 (more tuned in – anointing before death)
3. Because Jesus said it was needful! 40-42
A. Marthas may lose it all someday! 40-42b (wood, hay, stubble 1 Cor 3:11-15)
B. Mary will have treasure forever! 42
Proverbs 23:4 “Labor not to be rich: cease from thine own wisdom.”
Troubled – tumult Careful – to become distracted
