Summary: The meaning of being blessed is usually misunderstood by many. Usually, commonly, it is evident that blessing is often compared to material possessions or finances. The perspective of God is entirely different and we will look into a few insights.

Psalms 1:1 starts by saying " Blessed is ....... The Psalmist King David enumerates who actually is blessed and what are the conditions and what characteristics help in being blessed. Blessings of God is usually measured by the material possessions or the property that is owned or the financial balances in our Bank accounts. But the perspective of God is entirely different with that of human mind.

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the ungodly. An ungodly company can rob me of my blessings. There is a saying that says, " show me your friends and I will tell who you are." Many a times our identity is determined on the company that we associate with. Every possession does not determine a blessing. We need to be cautious and careful to understand what is from God and what is not.

When I am associated with Godly people the results are different. Because there is encouragement, joy, peace, learning and so on. We need to choose with whom we share our inmost thoughts and feelings.

The result of being blessed is mentioned in many places in the Bible. We cannot partake with ungodly people or those who sin. The Lord Jesus Christ also said we cannot serve both God and Mammon. There has to be a demarcation. We cannot cross from here to there. We have to maintain the sanctity of His calling in order to be blessed.

There are many factors that contribute to being called as blessed. He also continues in Verse 1 that those who do not stand with sinners and sit with mockers. Our associations matter a lot. In Mark 5 we see when the daughter of Jairus was dead he did not take everyone with him. He took only those who would create an environment for a miracle. We need to be with like minded people. We should never partake with mockers and sinners. Having close associations with them might cause danger to our own stand. That is why it is important to understand the entire context.

Verse 2 says that he delights in the low of the Lord and meditates on it day and night. Let us delight in the Word of God. Let it penetrate our lives. The Word of God is plays a very important role ine one's life. The Psalmist King David said " Your Word is a Lamp unto my feet and light and unto my path. The Bible talks about meditating on God's Word. We also see God instructing Joshua in Joshua 1:8. Meditation of God's Word is very important. Worldly meditation is called Transcendental Mediation where you are called to empty your mind. Biblical meditation is filling your mind with the Word of God. It promises prosperity and good success.

We will remain blessed in every endeavour of our lives.

God bless you abundantly !!!
