Blessed house and a cursed house!

Leviticus 14:34 "When you have come into the land of Canaan, which I give you as a possession, and I put the leprous plague in a house in the land of your possession..”

The words “I put the leprous plague in a house in the land of your possession”, captivated my attention and set me thinking! We know about the body being affected by leprosy, but can a house be affected by leprosy? Oh yes, it can! When our house is attacked by a leprous plague we are not aware, just read verse 35 with me, ‘he who owns the house comes and tells the priest, saying, 'It seems to me that there is some plague in the house,” We should not try to do first-aid on our own, by plastering the damage with paint but we need to look for professional help, in other words, we need to turn to godly people for advice. We should not try for web-help or friends-help, but we need to reach out for help from God!

Why would God put a leprous plague on our house? To get our attention! Spiritual awakening comes only through affliction, persecution and destruction! We need to get to the root cause of the problem, understanding how it has affected the present, get spiritual counseling and seek God for healing. Let me explain.

When people refuse to accept correction and instructions from God, then God has to send pain to get our attention, Zephaniah 3:2 says, ‘She has not obeyed His voice, She has not received correction; She has not trusted in the LORD, She has not drawn near to her God.’

Just look around friends, you have people who ignore church, ignore the Bible, ignore His Servants and live as they want. The consequences of their erratic and rebellious behavior, brings the leprous plague on their homes. There are still the religious ones who attend church, but follow the mass in committing sins. They chant: ‘everybody is doing it!’ Now listen. Pain and problems in our life is a signal to “check out our life and set it right.’ Friends, God does not want to destroy you, but He is keen on cleansing and purifying us to inherit the Kingdom of heaven.

PLAGUE OF UNRIGHTEOUS LIVING:

I know of some palatial houses with plush interior decorations that are lying idle without yielding any financial benefits for the owner, either they are unoccupied or there may be continuous repairs.

Job 15:28 says “He dwells in desolate cities, In houses which no one inhabits, Which are destined to become ruins. “

In some cases, there may be continuous illness, divorces, deaths , mental illness and accidents may keep attacking the family one by one, thereby darkness engulfs that house. You may wonder, ‘hey, what’s happening? May be a leprous plague has affected the house! Don’t close your eyes to the fact! Dig deep into the past and set right your records, otherwise the plague would never go! Friend, if there is black money involved in the purchase of your palatial, splendid home or if the land value is underestimated in order to make profit on the registration fees, mark it today, it is leprous. Make a thorough investigation of all your past activities and clean the records and remove the stain of sin, if not, curses would eventually hit the home.

Hear God’s warning: Ezekiel 13:11 “say to those who plaster it with untempered mortar, that it will fall. There will be flooding rain, and you, O great hailstones, shall fall; and a stormy wind shall tear it down.”

Righteous living is absolutely important to have a blessed home, I am talking about both the physical building as well as our life. Any form of cheating would bring curses on our home, be it medical insurance, vehicle insurance, leave travel allowances, travel allowances, there are many ways people embezzle money through fake vouchers and false claims. Jeremiah 22:3" Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness And his chambers by injustice..” I remember an engineer tell me with pain, “sister, when I read out your devotions that emphasize righteous living, people just close their ears.’ Oh yeah, people don’t want to listen to me! They feel I am just too much; not at all people, God wants us to be holy and clean. Lev 19:13 says, 'You shall not cheat your neighbor, nor rob him.”

Some homes are filled with strife, misunderstandings, quarrels and debts; surely there is a leprous plague that needs to be cleansed. Friend, you may deck up the home with the best of things; nevertheless, the façade begins to peel and crack when there is a problem. No amount of colorful wall-paintings, gorgeous interiors and lush garden, can bring joy to a home; only JESUS CHRIST can bring joy into our life. Give Him a shout of praise! Elegantly and tastefully designed homes are stinking because of sin! I tell you punishment would surely follow sin!
