WHY? "For they received the Word with great eagerness, examining the Scriptures daily, to see whether these things were so." Acts 17:11

"(Hu)man(kind) shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4

WHEN? "This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success." Joshua 1: 8

HOW? Systematically (once a year, which is several chapters / day) or topically (in depth)

Publically "And he read from it facing the square before the Water Gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women and those who could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law." Nehemiah 8: 3

"Assemble the people, men, women, and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, that they may heard and learn to fear the LORD your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law." Deuteronomy 31: 12

WHAT IS THE BIBLE? "the sword of the Spirit" Ephesians 6: 17

"They Word is a lamp to my feet and light to my path." Psalm 119: 105

"For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light." Proverbs 6: 23

"All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof (criticism, rebuke), for correction, for training in righteousness." 2 Timothy 3: 16

"Not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished." Matthew 5: 18

"No prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one's own interpretation for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but (people) moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God." 2 Peter 1: 20, 21

The Old Testament references are from the Revised Standard Version, which has a better Hebrew translation.

The New Testament references are from the New American Standard Bible, has has a better Greek translation.
