Beyond The Scroll
Contributed by Rev Emmanuel O. Adejugbe on Jan 5, 2026 (message contributor)
Summary: In 2026, it is easy to be connected to everyone but grounded in nothing. Are you building a legacy, or just consuming a feed? Move Beyond the Scroll and discover how to develop "20/26 Vision" trading temporary dopamine hits for the permanent Kingdom milestones that actually matter.
As we step into 2026, we find ourselves in a world obsessed with the momentary. We are programmed to "scroll" constantly seeking the next hit of dopamine or the next temporary distraction. We often talk about "20/20 vision," meaning we see things clearly as they are right now. But as believers, we need 20/26 Vision. This isn't about physical eyesight; it’s about spiritual foresight.
It is the ability to see the end of your life from the beginning and live with a destination in mind. We are the most "connected" generation in history, yet often the least grounded. We spend hours on a "scroll" (temporary moments) but minutes on our "soul" (permanent milestones).
The Mandate to Remember
In Ecclesiastes 12:1, Solomon gives us a strategic command: “Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come...” To "Remember" doesn't mean "don't forget He exists." It means to act on His behalf to center your identity on Him before the world tries to define you. Solomon calls out "the days of your youth" because your energy and your time are the primary currency of the Kingdom.
The Psalmist asks a critical question in Psalm 119:9: “How can a young man keep his way pure? By guarding it according to your word.” This is the secret to 20/26 Vision. You cannot build a legacy on a "guess." You build it on the Word. In a culture that is constantly shifting, the Word of God is the only anchor that keeps your "way" from being swept away by the current of the world. There is a season coming the "evil days" where physical strength fades. The goal of 20/26 Vision is to build a foundation now so that when those days come, you aren't standing on sinking sand.
Walking with Destination
To have this vision, we must understand the difference between what is fleeting and what is foundational. A Moment is like a social media post; it’s temporary and driven by "how I feel right now." A Milestone is a Kingdom marker; it is permanent and driven by "who I am becoming in Christ." Psalm 90:12 provides our prayer for this journey: “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.” To "number our days" means to realize that our time is a limited resource meant for an eternal purpose.
If our faith journey started with "Feet First" simply having the courage to get into the water then 20/26 Vision is about the stroke. It’s not enough to just be in the water; you have to swim with a destination. A "Rider" doesn't just sit on the board; they anticipate the wave and look ahead. Don't just "survive" your walk with Christ; aim for the milestones of spiritual maturity and service. Starting this week, make the Fifteen-Minute Trade. Identify the app that eats your time and trade it for Scripture. Identify your 2026 Milestone one spiritual fruit you want to be permanent in your life and find a Legacy Partner to keep you accountable.
Move from "me-centered" moments to "we-centered" Kingdom building.
If you have been living for the scroll and your soul feels empty, today is the day to anchor yourself in the Eternal Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Prayer of Salvation:
"Heavenly Father, I admit that I have been living for the moment. I have spent my energy on things that are fading away. Today, I want to trade my moments for Your milestones. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and rose again. I 'Remember my Creator' today and surrender my heart to You Lord Jesus. Wash away my past, lead me in my present, and secure my future. Give me 20/26 Vision. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
