A. Wisdom is better than gold.

"How much better is it to get wisdom than gold!"

Proverbs 3:15-18 (Amplified Bible)

Skillful and godly Wisdom is more precious than rubies; and nothing you can wish for is to be compared to her.

Length of days is in her right hand, and in her left hand are riches and honor.

Her ways are highways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.

She is a tree of life to those who lay hold on her; and happy (blessed, fortunate, to be envied) is everyone who holds her fast.

Proverbs 4:7 (Amplified Bible)

The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation).

Proverbs 8:10-11 (Amplified Bible)

Receive my instruction in preference to [striving for] silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold,

For skillful and godly Wisdom is better than rubies or pearls, and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.

Wisdom or "chokmah" in Hebrew means skillful wisdom, wisely, wit

It is better to have than gold because it can manage gold, rather than having gold without wisdom and gold will manage you.

James 1:5 (Amplified Bible)

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

B. Understanding is better than silver.

"and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver!"

Understanding or "biynah" in Hebrew which means knowledge, meaning, perfectly.

Ecclesiastes 7:12 (Amplified Bible)

For wisdom is a defense even as money is a defense, but the excellency of knowledge is that wisdom shields and preserves the life of him who has it.

Psalms 119:127 (Amplified Bible)

Therefore I love Your commandments more than [resplendent] gold, yes, more than [perfectly] refined gold.

Matthew 16:26 (Amplified Bible)

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life [his blessed life in the kingdom of God]? Or what would a man give as an exchange for his [blessed] life [in the kingdom of God]?

Luke 12:21 (Amplified Bible)

So it is with the one who continues to lay up and hoard possessions for himself and is not rich [in his relation] to God [this is how he fares].

Wisdom and understanding are great partners to have as partners as well in our life here on earth. They both work hand in hand, you need skills and knowledge to back it all up.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Praise, worship, glorify, adore, bless, honor, acknowledge and thank You very much LORD JESUS for You have given me wisdom and understanding through hearing and doing Your WORDS.
