Title: “Better than the Moon!”

Introduction: I will explain the title of the message at the conclusion of the message!

1. Love Starved.

Note how love starved sin and Satan makes a person feel:

(Job 19:7 KJV) Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

That is: God is not listening to my prayer.

(Job 19:8 KJV) He hath fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he hath set darkness in my paths.

That is: Instead of God making things better for me, things are getting worse.

(Job 19:9 KJV) He hath stripped me of my glory, and taken the crown from my head.

That is: I have no self worth anymore.

(Job 19:10 KJV) He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

That is: I have lost my faith in the goodness of God all together.

(Job 19:11 KJV) He hath also kindled his wrath against me, and he counteth me unto him as one of his enemies.

That is: I feel like God is my enemy and not my friend anymore.

(Job 19:12 KJV) His troops come together, and raise up their way against me, and encamp round about my tabernacle.

(Job 19:13 KJV) He hath put my brethren far from me, and mine acquaintance are verily estranged from me.

That is: My Church family doesn’t love me.

(Job 19:14 KJV) My kinsfolk have failed, and my familiar friends have forgotten me.

That is: My family doesn’t love me.

(Job 19:15 KJV) They that dwell in mine house, and my maids, count me for a stranger: I am an alien in their sight.

(Job 19:16 KJV) I called my servant, and he gave me no answer; I entreated him with my mouth.

That is: Those with whom I once worked with, don’t love me.

(Job 19:17 KJV) My breath is strange to my wife, though I entreated for the children’s sake of mine own body.

That is: My wife doesn’t love me.

(Job 19:18 KJV) Yea, young children despised me; I arose, and they spake against me.

That is: Children don’t love me.

(Job 19:19 KJV) All my inward friends abhorred me: and they whom I loved are turned against me.

That is: My friends don’t love me.

I AM LOVED STARVED!!!!!

2. Introducing Love’s Source!

Let me take you to a New Testament Text:

(John 4:10 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

(John 4:11 KJV) The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

(John 4:12 KJV) Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

(John 4:13 KJV) Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:

(John 4:14 KJV) But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Commentary: At the beginning of Chapter Four, Jesus tells his disciples that he is on a mission. “He must needs go through Samaria,” why? At the well of Samaria he, the Love Source, would come into the pathway of someone who was “Love Starved.”

They were alone at the well. The disciples had gone into town to buy meat. Why did the woman come to the well alone? Could it be that she had no friends? She had been through five failed marriages and was living with a man that she was not married to at the time. Love had failed her.

Conclusion:

When Jesus, The Love Source, makes a connection with a Loved Starved sinner, a miracle takes place! Jesus told the woman at the well, that if she would “drink of the water that he would give, she would never thirst again.” Of what water was Jesus speaking? His message was that of the indwelling Holy Spirit that awakens the spirit of the new found believer, and comes to dwell within the very being of the Loved Starved soul!

Once a person comes to Christ, they do not have to look for love “in all of the wrong places” anymore. The Love Source comes to dwell within them!

As I go about my life from day to day, I need to be aware that there are Loved Starved people all about me. I need to bring to them the message that they can go from being a “Loved Starved” soul, to possessing and becoming a “Love Source” for others.
