DISCUSSION:
I. A Good Name
A. Proverbs 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
B. Your name represents who you are.
C. Names like Donald Trump, Daniel Miliken, Charles Keating do not now mean what they once did. Imagine the sense of humiliation they now feel compared to the pride they used to feel.
II. Health
A. Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk."
B. James 4:13-15 Come now, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit"; 14 whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead you ought to say, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that."
C. Galatians 6:7-8 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.
III. God’s Word
A. Psalms 19:10 More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
IV. A Good Conscience
A. Matthew 27:5 Then he threw down the pieces of silver in the temple and departed, and went and hanged himself.
B. 1 Peter 3:21 There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
V. Faith
A. 1 Peter 1:7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,
VI. God’s favor
A. Proverbs 22:1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, loving favor rather than silver and gold.
VII. Salvation
A. Mark 8:36-37 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 "Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?
VIII. Treasures in Heaven
A. Matthew 6:19-20 "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 "but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
