John 1:19-36 BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD John the Baptist, on two occasions, said, "behold the Lamb of God." I. Behold His Purpose. which taketh away the sin of the world. God Purpose was from the beginning. Isa 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. A. His blood brings Remission Heb 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. B. His blood brings Redemption 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: C. His blood brings Reconciliation 2 Cor 5:19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. D. His blood brings Regeneration 1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. II. Behold His Poverty. 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, Isa 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. Matt 26:62-63 And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee? 63 But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. [i] He came as God (John v1) In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

[ii] He came from God (1 John 4:14) And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.

[iii] He came for God (2 Cor 5:21) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

[iv] He came to bring sinners to God (14:6) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. III. Behold His Purity. Behold the Lamb of God, (Acts 8:35) Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus. A. Jesus is the Pictured Lamb B. The Prophetic Lamb C. The Pure Lamb D. The Preeminent Lamb E. Jesus is the PERFECT Lamb for YOU! IV. Behold His Promotion. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God. Rev 5:12 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. There is one opinion that matters. God says "...This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well-pleased." (Mt. 3:17) Heb 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Php 2:9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. V. Behold His Purification. which taketh away the sin of the world Rev 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 1John 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. There Is Cleansing Able, Available, Accessible. VI. Behold His Proclamation. Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death. Rev 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful. VII. Behold His Punishment. Rev 6:15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Rev 14:10-11 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: 11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name. It Is :- Unerring, Unending, & Uneasing.
