Summary: This is a brief conversation that I had with our congregation right before Hurricane Irma was projected to hit our community as a Category 4 storm. I thought some may be able to use it when looking at am impending community disaster.

We Are Family

Lakewood COG | Pastor Jonathan Vorce | 9-10-2017

Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Later tonight we are supposed to experience a Category 4 Hurricane here in the Greater Tampa area. I want to have a heart to heart with you this morning and share 7 reminders about our response and interaction with each other as we look at this potential community disaster.

1. In times like these we need to trust God more than ever before.

¥ Don’t try to figure it out.

¥ Ask God to help you adjust to the “new normal”

2. A time to lean on one another

¥ Don’t be afraid to ask for help

¥ Don’t be afraid to lend a helping hand

3. Share

¥ Ask God to give you good discernment

¥ Be open to the direction of God

4. Be Patient & Understanding

¥ This is a very stressful time for a lot of people

¥ Don’t jump to conclusions if someone is short with you

¥ BE A PEACE-MAKER

5. Show Gods Love

¥ People will have a lot of questions… You don't have to have all the answers

¥ The Ministry of Presence

¥ We are called to do good

6. Know that Momma D and I are proud of you and feel very blessed to be your Pastors

7. Know that you are loved

¥ By our family &

¥ By God
