Because Jesus Resurrected
Contributed by Dr. Abraham Obadare on Aug 13, 2016 (message contributor)
Summary: Jesus is busy doing so many things for us after resurrection
The worst thing that could have happened to humankind is for Jesus to have not risen. Humankind would have been hopeless. Apostle Paul says in 1 Cor. 15:19 that our faith would have been in vain and we would be the most pitiable.
Thank God, Jesus resurrected; thank God, He is alive. He is now the first among the dead and takes preeminence among all – Col. 1:18. Paul further tells us that Christ will never die again, hallelujah; and death will no longer have dominion over Him (Rom. 6:9).
Jesus introduced Himself to John on the Island of Patmos and He said to him, "... Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; ..." Rev. 1:17-18
Because Jesus resurrected and remain alive: (John 20:19-30)
Fear is removed and Peace is restored to all troubled hearts that were scarred, troubled, sad, hopeless, etc., and our faith becomes strengthened (John 20:19,21,26). I am glad to inform you that your peace is guaranteed because Jesus is alive. Sing: “Because he lives, I can face tomorrow …” Only a person who is alive can declare peace.
Our doubts are removed and we are taught how to believe without seeing (John 20:24-28)
We are able to confidently serve as messengers of Christ(He said I am with you) – (Mat. 28:19). Only a person who is alive can say I'll be with you.
He serves as our advocate with the Father whenever we sin (1 John 2:1). If He remains dead, there is no one to plead our case before God.
He serves as our intercessor(Rom. 8:34) & vindicator (Isa. 50:8) so that the devil cannot successfully put any charge against us.
Our own resurrection and eternal peace with Him in heaven becomes sure, because He lives forever more (1 Cor. 15:50-58; Rev. 1:18)
He is preparing a place for us, that where He is, we may be also (John 14:1-3; 1 Cor. 2:9). Thank God, Jesus did not remain dead. The place He is preparing is described in Rev. 21:2, 10, 11, 23. By all means, we must be there. Pray that God will not allow anything to prevent you from entering.
He is helping us to overcome temptations, so we do not become overwhelmed (Heb. 2:18)
He is serving as our High Priest who lives forever (Heb. 6:19-20) and does not have to sacrifice twice
Humans priests sacrificed the blood of animals yearly - which can never take away sins (Heb. 10:11-12); but Jesus sacrificed himself and shed His blood once and for all and our sins are cleansed (Heb. 9:12, 23-28)
He is a High Priest who is sympathizing with our weaknesses, thereby helping us during struggles and infirmities ( Heb. 4:14-16)
Halleluyah to the Lamb that was slain but lives forevermore. Give Him praise in your heart always.
Halleluyah
