INTRODUCTION:

The resurrection of Jesus is the anchor of our Christian faith. When He rose from the dead, He sealed our victory, guaranteed our eternal hope, and empowered us to face tomorrow with boldness. His empty tomb is proof that death has been conquered, sin has lost its grip, and life has triumphed.

In John 14:19, Jesus said, “Because I live, ye shall live also.” This is not a poetic statement; it is a divine assurance that everything about our lives—past, present, and future—is secured in the living Christ. Our joy, confidence, and destiny are tied to His resurrection.

1. BECAUSE HE LIVES, OUR FUTURE IS SECURE

a) His resurrection guarantees our eternal life.

Jesus' victory over death assures us of our own resurrection and eternal dwelling with Him (1 Corinthians 15:20-23).

b) He went ahead to prepare a place for us.

His ascension means He is actively making eternal provision for His people (John 14:2-3).

c) Our inheritance is incorruptible and reserved.

The resurrection secured a heavenly inheritance that cannot fade away (1 Peter 1:3-5).

d) We have no fear of death anymore.

Because Christ lives, death is no longer the end but a passage into glory (Romans 6:9).

e) Biblical Example: The thief on the cross was assured paradise because of Jesus’ authority over life and death (Luke 23:43).

2. BECAUSE HE LIVES, OUR FAITH IS ALIVE

a) The resurrection validates our faith.

If Christ had not risen, our faith would be in vain—but now our faith has substance and power (1 Corinthians 15:17).

b) We believe in a living Saviour, not a dead prophet.

Unlike other religious founders, Jesus is alive and active (Revelation 1:18).

c) Our prayers are heard because He lives.

He intercedes for us continually as our High Priest (Hebrews 7:25).

d) We can boldly trust Him with our lives.

His faithfulness is proven, and His resurrection confirms His promises (2 Timothy 2:13).

e) Biblical Example: Thomas doubted, but his faith was revived when he encountered the risen Christ (John 20:27-29).

3. BECAUSE HE LIVES, OUR VICTORY IS GUARANTEED

a) We are not fighting for victory but from victory.

Jesus has already won the battle; we walk in His triumph (Colossians 2:15).

b) The grave has lost its power over us.

Death could not hold Him; it cannot hold those who belong to Him (Acts 2:24).

c) Sin no longer has dominion over us.

We now live a resurrected life with power over sin (Romans 6:4-6).

d) We overcome by His resurrection power.

The same Spirit that raised Jesus dwells in us and gives us victory (Romans 8:11).

e) Biblical Example: Peter, who denied Jesus in fear, preached boldly after the resurrection because of the empowering presence of the risen Christ (Acts 2:22-24).

4. BECAUSE HE LIVES, WE HAVE HOPE IN EVERY SITUATION

a) Our darkest moments are not the end.

Jesus rose on the third day, proving that delay is not denial (Mark 16:6).

b) His life brings meaning to our suffering.

Because He lives, suffering has purpose and will produce glory (2 Corinthians 4:17).

c) Hope anchors our souls in turbulent times.

His resurrection is our living hope amidst despair (Hebrews 6:19).

d) We expect good even in bad situations.

All things now work together for good to those in Christ (Romans 8:28).

e) Biblical Example: Mary Magdalene went to the tomb in tears but returned rejoicing after meeting the risen Lord (John 20:11-18).

5. BECAUSE HE LIVES, WE CAN FACE TOMORROW

a) The future is not uncertain—it is divinely planned.

He holds the keys of the future and nothing takes Him by surprise (Revelation 1:18).

b) His presence is with us daily.

The risen Christ walks with us through every season of life (Matthew 28:20).

c) We are not alone in our struggles.

Because He lives, His Spirit is our helper and guide (John 14:16-18).

d) We have divine backing for our journey.

His resurrection power works in us daily to fulfil His purpose (Philippians 2:13).

e) Biblical Example: The disciples went from fear to boldness after encountering the living Jesus—proof that His presence transforms our outlook (Luke 24:36-49).

CONCLUSION:

Because He lives, everything changes. Our past is forgiven, our present is guided, and our future is secure. Jesus’ resurrection is the foundation of our confidence and joy. We are not serving a memory; we are following a living Saviour. Let the power of His life fuel your faith, your dreams, and your destiny.

Live boldly. Pray confidently. Walk victoriously. Because He lives—you shall live also!

PRAYER POINTS:

1.  Father, thank You for the gift of eternal life through the resurrection of Jesus.

2.  Lord Jesus, let the power of Your resurrection be alive in me daily.
