But these are written (recorded) in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ (the Anointed One), the Son of God, and that through believing and cleaving to and trusting and relying upon Him you may have life through (in) His name [through Who He is].
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. Be willing to give CHRIST the boat not just take CHRIST for a ride
"Then they were quite willing and glad for Him to come into the boat."
1. The boat is our life or our portion in life
Matthew 4:19-22 (Amplified Bible)
And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples—letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!
At once they left their nets and became His disciples [sided with His party and followed Him].
And going on further from there He noticed two other brothers, James son of Zebedee and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zebedee, mending their nets and putting them right; and He called them.
At once they left the boat and their father and joined Jesus as disciples [sided with His party and followed Him].
Simon Peter and Andrew left their nets but James and John left their boat. Simon Peter can still fish because he has his boat with him, but James and John can no longer fish, even their father who owns the fishing business was left by them with the boat (family's business)
2. JESUS can turn your boat into a pulpit if you will only let Him
Luke 5:3-8 (Amplified Bible)
And getting into one of the boats, [the one] that belonged to Simon (Peter), He requested him to draw away a little from the shore. Then He sat down and continued to teach the crowd [of people] from the boat.
When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon (Peter), Put out into the deep [water], and lower your nets for a haul.
And Simon (Peter) answered, Master, we toiled all night [exhaustingly] and caught nothing [in our nets]. But on the ground of Your word, I will lower the nets [again].
And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish; and as their nets were [at the point of] breaking,
They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and take hold with them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.
But when Simon Peter saw this, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.
Notice how Simon Peter changed his mind towards JESUS, first Peter called JESUS "Teacher" and then he called him LORD, acknowledging Him as the owner of the boat. Finally, he was convicted of his sins
B. You will accomplish things faster
"And now the boat went at once to the land they had steered toward. [And immediately they reached the shore toward which they had been slowly making their way.]"
You will quickly reach your destination or purpose.
1. Reach your goals faster.
1 Peter 1:9 (Amplified Bible)
[At the same time] you receive the result (outcome, consummation) of your faith, the salvation of your souls.
2 Corinthians 5:9 (Amplified Bible)
Therefore, whether we are at home [on earth away from Him] or away from home [and with Him], we are constantly ambitious and strive earnestly to be pleasing to Him.
Galatians 3:3 (Amplified Bible)
Are you so foolish and so senseless and so silly? Having begun [your new life spiritually] with the [Holy] Spirit, are you now reaching perfection [by dependence] on the flesh?
2. The LORD JESUS can accomplish goals in only 3 days with or without us.
Luke 13:32 (Amplified Bible)
And He said to them, Go and tell that fox [sly and crafty, skulking and cowardly], Behold, I drive out demons and perform healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish (complete) My course.
