Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Recognize and rely on the strength and power of the Lord in our lives, as He is the ultimate source of our strength and the key to overcoming challenges.
Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving into a message that's near and dear to our hearts, a message that reminds us of where our strength comes from, and how we can rely on the power of the Lord in our lives.
As we begin, I'd like to share a quote from Andy Stanley. He said, "God’s strength in your weakness is His presence in your life." What a powerful reminder that our strength is not our own, but comes from God Himself!
Let's turn to Ephesians 6:10 and read the full Scripture passage together:
"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might."
Before we dive deeper into this message, let's open in prayer.
Father, we thank You for this opportunity to gather together and explore Your Word. We ask that You open our hearts and minds to receive the message You have for us today. Help us to recognize Your strength and power in our lives, and teach us how to rely on You in every situation. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
As believers, we must understand that our strength does not come from our own abilities, talents, or resources, but rather from the Lord Himself. This understanding is crucial because it shapes our perspective on how we approach life's challenges and how we rely on God in the midst of them.
In 2 Corinthians 12:9, the Apostle Paul shares the words of the Lord to him, saying, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Our human weakness is not a hindrance to God's power, but rather an opportunity for His strength to be displayed in our lives. When we acknowledge our weakness and rely on God's strength, we open ourselves up to experience His power in ways that we could never achieve on our own.
As believers, we have the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who empowers us to live a life that is pleasing to God and enables us to overcome the challenges we face. In Acts 1:8, Jesus tells His disciples, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." The power of the Holy Spirit is not just for the early disciples, but for all believers throughout the ages. It is through the Holy Spirit that we can access the strength and power of God in our lives.
The source of our strength is rooted in our relationship with Jesus Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." This emphasizes the importance of abiding in Christ and maintaining a close relationship with Him. As we stay connected to Jesus, we draw our strength from Him, and His life flows through us, enabling us to bear fruit and overcome the challenges we face.
The Bible is filled with promises and truths that remind us of God's power and strength available to us. In Isaiah 40:29, we read, "He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak." This verse, along with many others, serves as a reminder that God is the one who provides us with the strength we need to face life's challenges. By meditating on God's Word and standing on His promises, we can tap into the source of our strength and experience His power in our lives.
Prayer is our direct line of communication with God, and it is through prayer that we can express our dependence on Him and request His strength and power in our lives. In Philippians 4:6-7, the Apostle Paul encourages us to "not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." As we pray and seek God's strength, we can experience His peace and power, even in the midst of difficult circumstances.
God designed us to live in fellowship with one another, and we can draw strength from the encouragement, support, and prayers of our fellow Christians. In Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, we read, "Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up." The Christian community is a vital source of strength, as we can lean on one another and help each other up when we face challenges and struggles.
As believers, we have the assurance that our present struggles and challenges are temporary, and that one day, we will experience eternal victory in Christ. In Romans 8:37, the Apostle Paul writes, "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us." This hope in Jesus gives us the strength to persevere and overcome the challenges we face, knowing that our ultimate victory is secure in Christ.
As believers, we must recognize that the power of the Lord is not just a distant, abstract idea, but a tangible force that we can access and rely on in our everyday lives ... View this full PRO sermon free with PRO
