VII. MAIN BODY:

Point #1: The LORD is Present In All Our Troubles:

A. Man of Sorrows - Isa 53:3

Isa 53:3 People made fun of him, and even his friends left him. He was a man who suffered a lot of pain and sickness. We treated him like someone of no importance, like someone people will not even look at but turn away from in disgust. (ERV)

Isa 53:3 He is despised and rejected of men; a Man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief; and as it were a hiding of faces from Him, He being despised, and we esteemed Him not. (MKJV)

Psalms 35:13-15

King David under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit cried foretelling what would Jesus do:

Psa 35:13 When they were sick, I was sad and wore sackcloth. I went without eating to show my sorrow. (May my prayers for them not be answered!)

Psa 35:14 I mourned for them as I would for a friend or a brother. I bowed low with sadness, crying as I would for my own mother.

Point #2: The Lord weeps with us

Hebrews 2:16 Clearly, it is not angels that Jesus helps. He helps the people who are from Abraham.

Hebrews 2:17 For this reason, Jesus had to be made like us, his brothers and sisters, in every way. He became like people so that he could be their merciful and faithful high priest in service to God. Then he could bring forgiveness for the people's sins.

Hebrews 4:15 Jesus, our high priest, is able to understand our weaknesses. When Jesus lived on earth, he was tempted in every way. He was tempted in the same ways we are tempted, but he never sinned. (ERV)

Romans 12:15 Be happy with those who are happy, and weep with those who weep. (NLT)
