Summary: The parable of the ten virgins is a wake-up call for the Church. Jesus is coming again.

BE READY FOR CHRIST'S COMING

By Rev. Samuel Arimoro

Text: Matthew 25:1-13

Supporting Text: Revelation 22:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:16–18

INTRODUCTION:

The parable of the ten virgins is a wake-up call for the Church. Jesus is coming again—suddenly, without notice. The question is not “Is He coming?” but rather, “Will you be ready when He comes?” Readiness is not an option—it is a command. May God help us to be found ready in Jesus’ name.

POINT 1 – THE BRIDEGROOM WILL SURELY COME

The delay of Christ's coming does not mean He has forgotten. He is patiently giving everyone a chance to prepare.

Illustration: Noah warned of the flood for 120 years, and it still came (Genesis 6–7).

POINT 2 – NOT EVERYONE WAITING WILL ENTER

All ten virgins were waiting, but only five made it in. Mere association with the Church is not enough—personal preparation is key.

Illustration: Lot’s wife followed the right crowd but had the wrong heart (Genesis 19:26).

POINT 3 – LACK OF OIL IS DANGEROUS

The oil represents the Holy Spirit, consistent prayer life, the Word, and obedience. Without these, your lamp will go out.

Illustration: Saul started well, but the Spirit departed from him (1 Samuel 16:14).

POINT 4 – THERE WILL BE NO SECOND CHANCE AFTER THE TRUMPET

When the door is shut, it is shut. Regret, crying, and pleading will be useless after Christ comes.

Illustration: The rich man in hell begged for mercy but got none (Luke 16:19–31).

POINT 5 – READINESS IS DAILY, NOT OCCASIONAL

Readiness is not a Sunday-Sunday thing—it is a daily lifestyle of holiness, obedience, and intimacy with God.

Illustration: Enoch walked with God daily, and God took him (Genesis 5:24).

CONCLUSION:

Jesus could return at any moment. Will He find you faithful? Will your lamp be burning? Will you be among the wise virgins? Now is the time to get extra oil. Don’t gamble with eternity—be ready!

ALTAR CALL:

If you are not sure of your salvation, now is the time to surrender to Jesus. Say:

“Lord Jesus, I repent of my sins. Wash me in Your blood. Write my name in the Book of Life. Fill me with Your Spirit and help me to be ready when You return. In Jesus' name, Amen.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Father, thank You for reminding me that Jesus is coming again.

2. Lord, fill me with fresh oil—don’t let my lamp go out.

3. Father, keep me holy and ready for Your return every day.

4. Lord, help me not to be found among the foolish virgins.

5. Father, let me not miss heaven—no matter what.
