Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
Trust in God's perfect timing, understanding that He is never early or late, but always arrives exactly when needed.
Good morning, brothers and sisters in Christ. As we gather here today, I want to talk about a topic that touches everyone's life: God's perfect timing. We all have moments when we question, "Why now, Lord? Why not earlier or later?" It's human nature to question and wonder. But remember, our God is not bound by our human concept of time. He is always on time, never early, never late, but always perfect.
In the words of Rick Warren, "God is never in a hurry, but he is always on time."
Today's scripture, Matthew 14:25, illustrates this perfectly. It reads,
"Shortly before dawn, Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake."
In their hour of need, Jesus showed up. Not a moment too soon, not a moment too late, but exactly when He was needed.
God’s timing is perfect. It's a statement that we often hear, but do we truly understand what it means? It's a concept that is not only biblical but also deeply comforting, especially during times of uncertainty or hardship. God is not bound by our human concept of time. He exists outside of time, and His timing is always perfect, even when it doesn't align with our own expectations or desires.
In our human perspective, timing is everything: We plan our lives around it. We set goals, deadlines, and schedules based on it. We often find ourselves rushing to meet these self-imposed timelines, and when things don't go according to plan, we question why. But God operates on a different timeline, one that is not bound by the constraints of our earthly understanding. His timing is not dictated by the ticking of a clock or the turning of a calendar page. Instead, His timing is guided by His perfect wisdom and love for us.
Abraham and Sarah: They were promised a son, but years passed, and they remained childless. In their old age, it seemed impossible that God's promise would be fulfilled. Yet, in God's perfect timing, Sarah conceived and gave birth to Isaac. God's promise was fulfilled, not in the timing that Abraham and Sarah expected, but in God's perfect timing.
This is not to say that waiting on God's timing is easy: It can be challenging, especially when we are facing difficulties or when we are waiting for something we deeply desire. But the Bible reassures us that God's timing is worth the wait. In Ecclesiastes 3:11, it says, "He has made everything beautiful in its time." This verse reminds us that God's timing is not only perfect but also beautiful. It brings about the best outcome, even if it's not what we initially envisioned.
God's perfect timing teaches us to trust in Him: When we find ourselves questioning, "Why now, Lord? Why not earlier or later?" it's an opportunity for us to lean on our faith and trust in God's plan. It's a chance for us to surrender our own timelines and expectations and to embrace God's perfect timing. It's a call to patience, faith, and surrender.
A testament to His sovereignty: It's a reminder that He is in control, that He holds the universe in His hands. He knows the beginning from the end, and He orchestrates everything in between. His timing is not random or arbitrary. It's purposeful, intentional, and perfect.
Easy to get caught up and forget about God's perfect timing: But as we navigate through life's ups and downs, let's remember to trust in God's timing. Let's remember that He is never early, never late, but always on time. Let's remember that His timing is perfect, even when it doesn't align with our own expectations or desires.
