Plan for: Thanksgiving | Advent | Christmas
The sermon's main point is to explore the meaning of living a holy life in obedience to God, following Jesus' example, and relying on the Holy Spirit, as it is not an optional extra but an essential part of our Christian walk.
Good morning, church family! If you've got your Bibles with you, let's open them to 1 Peter, chapter 1, verses 13 through 16. Today, we're going to talk about what it means to live a holy life in obedience to God, following the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, and leaning on the power of the Holy Spirit to help us.
You know, Mother Theresa once said, "Holiness is not the luxury of the few; it is a simple duty, for you and for me…" And friends, he was spot on. As followers of Christ, we're called to live out a holy life, not because it's an optional extra, but because it's essential to our walk with God.
Let's read our passage together now from the English Standard Version. "Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, 'You shall be holy, for I am holy.'"
