Be at Peace, Jesus Loves you!
Text: Mark 4:35-41
35 ¶ And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass
over unto the other side.
36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the
ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that
it was now full.
38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake
him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And
the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is
this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
Often the problems of life can be compared to a storm, ..........Take notice to
Why the disciples.....should have been at peace......and why we.....should be at
peace also.......the disciples asked Jesus......Teacher do you not care if we
perish????......There are times when we wonder.....does anyone care????
The Bible.....God’s word reveals.......the human predicament......
Life’s experiences confirm this predicament....The society in which we live......
Seems only to add to it and......people seem uncaring about it.....
The church...... has even been called into Question.......
This leaves only.....JESUS!!!!!! Does he Care??????
Yes.....Jesus Cares......Jesus loves you......Jesus is with you.....no matter...
In what direction...... the storm may toss you... in your life.......
Illustration:
one day......Charles Spurgeon was walking through the English country side......
Walking with him.....was a friend.....As they strolled along.....the evangelist......
Noticed a barn...with a weather vane on it’s roof.......
At the top of the vane were these words..... “God Is Love”........
Mr. Spurgeon remarked to his companion......that he thought.....this was a rather
inappropriate place for such a message......
“Weather vanes are changeable”,.... he said, .....“but God’s love is constant.”.......
“ I don’t agree with you about those words, Charles,”.....replied His friend.....
“You misunderstood the meaning......That sign is indicating a Truth......
Regardless of which way the wind blows,......God is love.”
You see God is constant......no matter what life throws at you.......Jesus is with you
If you know Jesus as your personal savior....He will always give you peace....
And He will never leave you....Jesus cares about you.....like he cared about His
disciples........
That day on the water ......when the storm tossed about the disciples.......in there tiny
fishing boat....while Jesus slept......they should have realized that.....they were in the
perfect will......the perfect will of God......
You see....Jesus had told them to cross the lake.......
Mark 4:35
35 ¶ And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass
over unto the other side.
The disciples were acting on a divine word......They were acting on the divine word
of God......They had acted on that same divine word before....
Luke 5:4-8
4 Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep,
and let down your nets for a draught.
5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and
have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
6 And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their
net brake.
7 And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they
should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they
began to sink.
8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, Depart from
me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. ( Expound )
Peter had acted on Christ’s word before.......Peter had seen the power of Christ.....
Peter had acknowledged...... Jesus as Lord.......
Yet these disciples were not at peace......We are willing to act on God’s Word......
Yet we are often..... not at peace.......
John 5:8-9
tells us of another man who acted on the words of Jesus......
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case,
he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled,
to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked:
