I. Attributes of God
a. Holy – 1 Pet 1:16 “You shall be holy for I am holy.”
b. Unique – "You are My witnesses," declares the LORD, "And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. "I, even I, am the LORD, And there is no savior besides Me. (Isaiah 43:10-11 NASB)
c. Eternal - Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God. (Psalms 90:2 NASB)
d. Omniscient - He counts the number of the stars; He gives names to all of them. Great is our Lord and abundant in strength; His understanding is infinite. (Psalms 147:4-5 NASB)
e. Omnipotent - God’s power is so great that we cannot come near him; he is righteous and just in his dealings with us. (Job 37:23 GNB)
f. Omnipresent - Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. (Psalms 139:7-8 NASB)
g. Sovereign - "Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, … ’My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’; (Isaiah 46:9-10 NASB)
h. Triune – three in One – Father, Son, & Holy Spirit
i. Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; " (Genesis 1:26a)
ii. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)
iii. "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, (Matthew 28:19 NASB)
i. Love – 1 John 4:8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
j. Unchangeable - In the same way God, desiring even more to show to the heirs of the promise the unchangeableness of His purpose, interposed with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of the hope set before us. (Hebrews 6:17-18 NASB)
II. Work of God
a. Therefore they said to Him, "What shall we do, so that we may work the works of God?" Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He has sent." (John 6:28-29 NASB)
b. He says, "It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also make You a light of the nations So that My salvation may reach to the end of the earth." (Isaiah 49:6 NASB)
c. for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. (Philippians 2:13 NASB)
III. Will of God
a. This is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3-4 NASB)
b. Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:1-2 NASB)
