Summary: Authority and power should be tools in our hands for the fulfillment of the ultimate plan of God and not to lead us astray
May the peace of the Lord be with you.
Topic: AUTHORITY AND POWER SHOULD NOT LEAD YOU ASTRAY
Acts 28:7-12 King James Version (KJV)
7 In the same quarters were possessions of the chief man of the island, whose name was Publius; who received us, and lodged us three days courteously.
8 And it came to pass, that the father of Publius lay sick of a fever and of a bloody flux: to whom Paul entered in, and prayed, and laid his hands on him, and healed him.
9 So when this was done, others also, which had diseases in the island, came, and were healed:
10 Who also honoured us with many honours; and when we departed, they laded us with such things as were necessary.
11 And after three months we departed in a ship of Alexandria, which had wintered in the isle, whose sign was Castor and Pollux.
.12 And landing at Syracuse, we tarried there three days.
Beloved, the power of God was made manifest on the Island through Paul. He prayed for the sick and healing was poured on them by the Grace of God Almighty.
Beloved, the man who was thought of as a murderer and then changed to being seen as a god is now healing all manner of sicknesses on the Island. What a mighty God we serve.
Beloved, the works of God worked by Paul, caused the chief man of the Island to give them a ship to sail with. Wow! now Paul the prisoner, has authority on the ship carrying him to Rome.
Now, even though a prisoner, he could divert the course of the ship or do what he wanted. He could have decided not to leave the Island and the inhabitants plus the Chief man will support him.
Paul exhibited this authority by getting the ship to stop at different cities where he visited the brethren and encouraged them to continue in the Lord.
But, Paul was not thinking about his freedom, he was thinking about the liberation of Rome from the hands of the devil when the Gospel of Grace is preached there.
Paul was a man ready to suffer anything so long as it will aid the spreading of the Gospel of Grace and get people to accept Jesus as their Lord and Personal Saviour.
So though he had the power to control the ship, he was ready to be a prisoner on it and be carried to Rome for the ultimate plan of God to be fulfilled.
Beloved, don't be focused on your present situation, whether comfortable or not, good or bad, pleasant or unpleasant, be focused on the ultimate plan of God Almighty and allow Him to lead you to work towards that. For His name to be glorified in the end.
*IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS* and no one else. Let us be focused on Jesus who is the reason why we live and do whatever we do. Paul was focused on Him and the Lord used him mightly. In the end he was used by God to fulfill His ultimate plan for Rome in Jesus name.
Prayer: Father cause me to be as humble as you want me to be and use me according to your will to fulfill your ultimate plan in Jesus name. Amen.
