Summary: Questions about the purpose of the tabernacle, the Holy of Holies, and the Ark of the Covenant.

1. What was the purpose of the tabernacle? That God may dwell among His people (Exodus 25:8; cf. 26:1-30).

2. How many separate lights were there on this candlestick? Seven candles (Exodus 25:32, 37).

3. What was symbolized by this seven-fold light? Jesus, the Light of the world (Hebrews 1:3; John 1:4, 9).

4. What was on the table in the Holy Place of the tabernacle. Shewbread or sacred loaves of bread (v. 2; Leviticus 24:5-6).

5. What was Jesus, in addition to being “the light of men?” Life (John 1:4; 6:35).

6. What is suggested by the 12 loaves – one for each of the 12 tribes? Life more abundantly (John 10:10).

7. What ascended up from this censer? Sweet incense to the Lord (Leviticus 16:12-13).

8. What did this sweet incense typify? Intercession of Christ, prayers of saints (Revelation 8:4).

9. What may this suggest about our Lord Jesus? Christ is at God’s right-hand making intercession for us (Romans 8:32-34).

10. What else was within the Holy of Holies? Ark of the Covenant (v. 4; Exodus 25:10-16).

11. What did God promise in connection with this Ark and its contents? I will meet with you there (Exodus 20:6).

12. How many believers today can be assured of the presence and blessing of God in their midst? “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20).

13. What were some of the things kept with the Ark? Golden pot of manna, Aaron’s rod, Ten Commandments (v. 4).

14. What was symbolized by the budding rods of Numbers 17:1-10? Resurrection of Christ (Isaiah 11:1; Zechariah 3:8; 6:12).

15. The writer now proceeds to show that Christ’s entrance into Heaven by His own blood, a real forgiveness has been made, hence a true spiritual purification (vv. 7-14).

16. What was absolutely essential the high priest must do once a year? He must enter the Holy of Holies (v. 7).

17. What was indicated by the fact that there was no entrance to the Holy of Holies without the blood offering? The way to God by Christ’s blood not yet manifested (v. 8).

18. How was this situation changed? “The veil was torn in two from top to bottom” (Matthew 27:50-51).

19. How did all the sacrifices fall short? Could not make the worshipers perfect (v. 9).

20. By what priceless blood has our High Priest once for all entered the Heavens for us? Christ shed His own blood (v. 12; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

21. For what one purpose did Jesus appear on earth in His first advent? To put away sin (v. 26; Matthew 20:28).

22. Do you find any hint that it may be possible for a person to settle the matter of his destiny some time after death? No, we die then appear for judgment (v. 27; 2 Corinthians 5:10; John 8:21; Revelation 20:12).

If you have never really accepted Jesus as your personal Savior, would you do it right now? Do not delay or put it off. If you would like to receive Christ by faith, pray this simple prayer in your heart:

Dear Lord, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe Jesus died for my sins on the cross, and rose again the third day. I repent of my sins. By faith I receive the Lord Jesus as my Savior. You promised to save me, and I believe You, because You are God and cannot lie. I believe right now that the Lord Jesus is my personal Savior, and that all my sins are forgiven through His precious blood. I thank You, dear Lord, for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If you prayed that prayer, God heard you and saved you. I personally want to welcome you to the family of God and rejoice with you.
