At Jesus’ Feet

Scripture Reading: Luke 7:36-50

Introduction:

Almost everyone has some special place they would like to be (i.e., Hawaii, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, etc.). Of all the wonderful and beautiful places that our Lord has created, the most wonderful place for a person to be is at the feet of Jesus Christ our Lord.

** The most wonderful place is at the feet of Jesus.

** The most beautiful place is at the feet of Jesus.

** The most educational place is at the feet of Jesus.

** The most beneficial place is at the feet of Jesus.....Because...

I. It Is A Place Of Pardon:

Luke 7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

Psalm 32:5 [Living] .... I finally admitted all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, "I will confess them to the Lord." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

Illustration: Someone received a Christmas card that has a special significance for us all. I’d like to summarize it for you:

"If our greatest need had been information, God would have sent us an educator. If our greatest need had been technology, God would have sent us a scientist. If our greatest need had been money, God would have sent us an economist. But since our greatest need was forgiveness, God sent us a Savior."

Matthew 9:2 And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee. (At Jesus’ feet.)

John 8:11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. (At Jesus’ feet.)

II. It Is A Place Of Healing:

Matthew 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Psalm 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Note: Perhaps some are not healed because they are not willing to cast themselves prostrate in humility at the feet of Jesus. We cannot expect Christ to heal us if there is pride, or hatred, or jealousy bound up in our hearts (which we are not willing to forsake). We must come humbly to His feet.

III. It Is A Place Of Learning:

Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. [39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. [40]But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. [41] And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: [42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

IV. It Is A Place Of Prayer:

Mark 5:22-23 And, behold, there cometh one of the rulers of the synagogue, Jairus by name; and when he saw him, he fell at his feet, [23] And besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be healed; and she shall live.

Numbers 20:6 And Moses and Aaron went from the presence of the assembly unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto them.

Joshua 5:14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

V. It Is A Place Of Thanksgiving:

Luke 17:15-16 (Lepers healed) And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God, [16] And fell down on his face at his feet, giving him thanks: and he was a Samaritan.
