Summary: This sermon adresses the outpour Of the Holy Ghost in these last days that will bring the church to it’s full potential
Ask For It to Rain
Zechariah 10:1----Mark 4:26
I believe it is the desire of God to bring to us the Former and the latter rain together
Joel 2:23 - Joel 2:24 (KJV) 23Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. 24And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
In Mark 4:26 the bible talks about the Church or the Kingdom of God is as a seed of corn that has been planted by God and is to produce the harvest.
This seed is dependant upon two things
a. The Former rain
b. The Latter rain
May I tell you that we the church will not be able to survive without these 2 rains
God knew that we would have to have them so he said 1Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain;
The former rain fell at seed-time
1. During this time the ground was cultivated
2. The seed was planted
3. The planter then had to wait on the rain to come
4. Kind-a like the preacher behind the pulpit; he breaks up the ground, sows the seed, then he waits upon God to bring the rain
What was the purpose of the former Rain?
a. It’s purpose was to bring the seed through the soil as a stalk and bring the stalk to a blade of Corn
b. That was just a start of the potential of the seed. There was more to the seed than just a stalk and a blade.
How many here tonight feel like you haven’t reached your full potential in God yet and you know that God has more for you than what you currently have?
Does anyone want to be more than just a stalk and a blade in the eyes of God?
Do you really want to grow and reach your full potential in God?
I believe god wants to bring us to our full potential in him.
If we get to our full potential then we are going to need the latter rain to fall.
The Latter rain always fell just before harvest
a. How many will agree with me that it is just before harvest and it won’t be long till Jesus comes in the Clouds of Glory to rapture his Church and so shall they ever be with the lord…”Hallelujah”
b. The latter rain brought the seed to its’ full potential
c. The purpose of the latter rain was to bring the Seed of Corn from a stalk and a blade to an ear then a full corn in the ear
d. I don’t now about you but when the sickle is put in the harvest, and the harvest is harvested I don’t want to wind up just a half ear of corn but I want to offer the lord a full corn.
e. We must begin to ask God for it to spiritually rain back upon his church
f. Yesterday’s rain will not suffice for today’s heat wave.
Hos 6:2 - Hos 6:3 (KJV)
1Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 2After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 3Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
Joel 2:28 - Joel 2:29 (KJV) 28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Conclusion: since he’s pouring out the latter rain let’s be found asking for it to fall on us.
