Youth Sermon: Ashes to Ashes: Dust to Dust

Introduction

Hey guys, have you ever thought about what you're made of? No, not your muscles or bones, but what you're really made of. According to the Bible, we're made of dust. Yeah, you heard it right, dust! And one day, we'll return to dust. That's what Ash Wednesday is all about. It's a day when we remember that we're not as big and important as we sometimes think we are. It's a day to say sorry to God for the things we've done wrong and promise to do better.

Let's look at this pile of dust here. It's not much to look at, right? But that's us. We're just like this dust. But the cool thing is, God can take this dust and make something amazing out of it. That's what He does with us.

According to the Bible, we're made of dust. Yeah, you heard it right, dust! And one day, we'll return to dust.

Becoming Something Amazing

So, how do we become something amazing? Well, there are three things we can do.

First, we need to say sorry to God for the things we've done wrong. That's called repentance. It's like taking a shower after a muddy football game. You wash off all the dirt and grime and come out clean. That's what repentance does for our souls.

Second, we need to talk to God. That's called prayer. It's like texting your best friend. You tell them what's going on, ask for advice, and just chat. That's what prayer is. It's talking to God about everything in your life.

Third, we need to help others. That's called service. It's like helping your little brother with his homework or helping your mom with the dishes. When we help others, we're showing them God's love.

Conclusion

So, this Lent, let's remember that we're dust. But let's also remember that God can take that dust and make something amazing out of it. Let's say sorry for our mistakes, talk to God, and help others.

Let's pray: "God, we're just dust. But you love us and want to make something amazing out of us. Help us to say sorry for our mistakes, to talk to you, and to help others. Amen."
