As our Soul Prospers

Text:

Ps 139:13-16

13 For You formed my inward parts;

You covered me in my mother’s womb.

14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works,

And that my soul knows very well.

15 My frame was not hidden from You,

When I was made in secret,

And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

The days fashioned for me,

When as yet there were none of them.

Introduction:

As doctors examine the human body they are fascinated by the unexplained reasons why certain organs function. It is incredible to me to see those show of hearts transplants of how a heart that was in a cooler for several hours can be placed in another human jump started.

Amazing how our bodies can recover after a fracture of a bone, or an injury, all the senses working involuntary to bring back life into that area.

Ps 139:14

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;

Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

TO BE MARVELOUS

pala’ OT:6381, "to be marvelous, be extraordinary, be beyond one’s power to do, do wonderful acts."

Beyond the bounds of human power.

If our human body could be so marvelously made, we can’t even began to think about the soul and the spiritual side of us.

The revelation that psalmist had was that this marvelous work was revealed to his soul.

“And that my soul knows very well”

Point One: Man is a trinity

First of all it is important that I explain shortly the difference of Body, Soul and Spirit. The psalmist is referring to the wonderful creation of the human body. And all that it entails, and his soul man knows very well.

In short the Body is our flesh, the soul is our conscience our reasoning, the deciding factor of our thought process. In it carries our character and personality to a degree. The Spirit “Inner Man” is the will of man, the invisible part of man. The light of man.

Breakdown –

The Body is your flesh – That is weak, a disadvantage and a plus….

The Soul is your decisive part – which is to be controlled by the “New Man” the regenerated spirit

The Spirit is – The lamp of God, The real you in Christ. The eternal body.

These are all different, yet very intertwined in function, and all makes up who we are in this life and the life to come.

Point Two: Our Soul is very persuasive

I have always thought that there was a war rising in me that only included the Spirit and Flesh, I had no idea that the soul was very persuasive. Your soul is not the one caught in the middle of an argument wondering which way to go. But your soul determines a lot of your influence.

Have you met anyone so negative in life? They had a bad complaint about everything? These are people that have allowed their soul to overrule their spirit. How about Christians? That are so negative, and critical. These are people that have allowed their souls to rule their destiny.

Heb 4:12

12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Sometimes we can these two confused because they are so intertwined. And sometimes we think we are reacting with our spirit when our soul is calling all the shots.

The soul must be saved, sanctified, dominated and influenced by the regenerated spirit of Man that is regenerated by the Holy Ghost and the Word of God.

Point Three: Your Soul Prospers

3 John 2:1

To the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth:

2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

PROSPER

euodoo NT:2137, "to help on one’s way" (eu, "well," hodos, "a way or journey"), is used in the passive voice signifying "to have a prosperous journey,"

As we build up our soul, by convincing us that the Word of God is true, we began to walk in truth. You will prosper in all things as your soul prospers

V. 2- As your soul prospers – How does your soul Prosper?
