Summary: God has promised to separate us from our sins.

As far as the East is from the West

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The Bible tells us in Romans 3:23 that; “… all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God…” None is righteous, no not one according to the Apostle Paul. But isn’t it wonderful to know that we serve a merciful and loving God. A God, that because of His love for us, have not punished us according to the sins that we are under. He remembers that we are made of the dust of the earth (born in sin and shaped in iniquity). We know that any punishment rendered would be justified.

But God said that He would separate us from our sins as far as the East is from the West.

Not North from South, but East from West. If you ask the average person how far they could travel in an northerly or southerly direction they would probably say as far as the North and South Poles. But you see that limits the separation that God is prepared to make. He will separate us just this far (from this point to this point). On the other hand there is no limit to your travel in an Easterly or Westerly direction. Man, for conveyance only established the Prime Meridian as a reference point. Dividing the earth into an eastern and western hemispheres. However, if one starts walking in an easterly direction he will remain in an easterly direction even if he crosses over into the Western Hemisphere. There is no end to an easterly direction. That’s what God wants us to know. That His separation of us from our sins is infinite. The separation is so great that it literally means He will forget our sins (never to bring them up again).

The only way a person can stop traveling east is to turn around and head in the opposite direction (west). Jesus said He would never leave us nor forsake us. But we have to continue traveling east and not look back. We have to continue in His way. We have to keep our eyes on the prize. We have to never turn away from Jesus. We have view Jesus as that easterly travel. That bright and morning star that appeared in the east. As long as we continue to travel towards that bright and shinning star God will continue to increase the distance between our sins and us. And,as we travel the eastern road every now and then we drop off something at the way stations that we past. (Adultery dropped off, lying dropped off, stealing dropped off, and addictions dropped off….)

But whoa to the one that turns back. That turns around. That changes directions and began to go back west. When you decide to turn away from Christ Jesus and go back towards the darkness that He delivered you from.

As you travel back west you run into all those things that you left at the way stations (Adultery, lying, stealing and addictions, etc). They say; “I was just waiting on you to return.” Matthew 12:43-45 warns us that once that old evil spirit is evicted he hangs around in dry places until he (sees you coming back)and says let me go back to where I came from.

If your house is still empty (that is, you have not allowed the Spirit of God to move in) then that old spirit comes in bringing seven more friends with him that is worst than he ever was. Among them is the spirit of blasphemy and back sliding.

God will take us away from our sins and into His marvelous light provided we stay on that straight and narrow road.

As evangelist we must tell dying men and women that Jesus loves them. That Jesus died for all our sins. That He will “lift you up, turn you around and place your feet on solid ground.” He will take you far away from your sins but you have to continue in His way. Don’t allow the enemies of your past to turn you around. Don’t allow them to return you to the very place that God delivered you from.

Stay the course. Full speed ahead in that easterly direction.

Lets give God some praise for He is worthy to be praised. Amen.
