Summary: THERE IS NO PLACE FOR ARROGANCE IN A BELIEVER.
ARROGANCE
INTRODUCTION:
THE FOLLOWING GREEK WORDS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT DEFINE ARROGANCE: SWELLING, EXTRAVAGANCE, PUFFED UP IN THE SOUL, LOFTINESS AND PRIDE. (2 PETER 2:18, JUDE 1:16, 2 CORINTHIANS 12:20)
SPIRITUAL INSIGHT:
PROVERBS 8:13 (NASB) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS TO HATE EVIL; PRIDE AND ARROGANCE AND THE EVIL WAY AND THE PERVERTED MOUTH, I HATE.
THE LIVING BIBLE (PARAPHRASE): IF ANYONE RESPECTS AND FEARS GOD, HE WILL HATE EVIL. FOR WISDOM HATES PRIDE, ARROGANCE, CORRUPTION AND DECEIT OF EVERY KIND.
2 TIMOTHY 3:2 (NASB) FOR MEN WILL BE LOVERS OF SELF, LOVERS OF MONEY, BOASTFUL, ARROGANT, REVILERS, DISOBEDIENT TO PARENTS, UNGRATEFUL, UNHOLY.
ARROGANCE IS ANYTHING BUT GODLY. SELF IMPORTANCE ALWAYS MAGNIFIES ITSELF ABOVE THE WORD.
I CORINTHIANS 13: 4 (NASB) LOVE IS PATIENT, LOVE IS KIND AND IS NOT JEALOUS, LOVE DOES NOT BRAG AND IS NOT ARROGANT.
PROVERBS 16:5 (NASB) EVERYONE WHO IS PROUD IN HEART IS AN ABOMINATION TO THE LORD, ASSUREDLY, HE WILL NOT BE UNPUNISHED.
APPLICATION: BLESSED ARE THE POOR IN SPIRIT, FOR THEIRS IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. (MATTHEW 5:3)
