Summary: What difference are you making to this world?
Matthew 5:13-“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
Those ones who are poor in spirit, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who mourn, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones are meek, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who hunger and thirst after righteousness, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who are merciful, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who have a pure heart, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who are a peacemaker, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Those ones who are persecuted for righteousness sake, that’s the ones who are the salt of earth!
Because those are the ones who are making a difference in this world!
Those are the ones who making changes to this world!
Isn’t that what salt does, it makes changes to what is add to!!
We are salt of the earth! We are how God puts a stop to a decaying and deteriorating nation!
Being a Christian can bring seasoning to a tasteless marriage, tasteless job, or a tasteless life, and preserve what is deteriorating!
Salt Heals-Epson Salt put into a bathtub relieves aches and pains.
Our Christian life will have a deeper meaning to us when we realize that our life can bring healing to people’s lives!
It might be spiritual healing, might be physical healing, might be emotional healing!!
Salt-(Definition) Add Zest To Something
Christians should have a enthusiasm that is contagious!
A enjoyment for life that is infectious to people around us!!
Luke 14:34-35-“Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
In the ancient Aramaic and Hebrew languages spoken by Jesus, one word meant both “clay-oven” and “earth”. Instead of using wood to fuel the fire, the young people of the village would gather camel or donkey dung, mix it with salt, form it into patties and let it dry in the hot Middle Eastern sun. A slab of salt was placed at the base of the oven and the salted dung patty was laid upon it. Salt has catalytic properties which cause the dung to burn. After a certain time, the salt slab loses its catalytic ability and it becomes useless. This maybe what Jesus was referring to when He says: “It [salt] is no longer good for anything, but is thrown out and trampled under foot
Familiar Sayings:
Rubbing Salt In The Wound-To add to somebody's distress, embarrassment, or sense of shame, often deliberately.
We Christians can often times hurt people who are already hurt!
We can say words that don’t heal! (Words about their character, their past, their reputation)
We can give looks that open fresh wounds! (When only look at how they dress, how they look)
Take Something With A Grain Or Pinch Of Salt-To listen to something without fully believing it.
We Christians sometimes get discouraged because we don’t think our loves ones or listening to what we have to say about Christ, but just remember it only takes a pinch of salt to make food taste different, and sometimes just a pinch of what they see or hear from you can change their life!!
The Salt Of The Earth-A very good, worthy person or group of people.
That should really define who we are as Christian people!
People who can be trusted, people who you can depend on, people who would rather do right than to do wrong!
Worth Your Salt-Efficient and doing the job well.
Christian are you doing your job well?
The job at work? Are you a good employee or employer?
The job at home? Are you a good spouse? A good parent?
The job at Church? How is your service to the Lord?
Are you doing all that you can for Him?
Are you putting in maximum effort or minimum effort in your service to the Lord?
