Spiritual Warfare part III
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph 6:10, 11
Believers must adorn themselves with the armor of God in order to stand against the devil’s schemes.
I. The Five Defensive Weapons
A. The waist covering; the belt of truth
Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, Eph 6:14a
1. By putting on the nature of truth
a. We resist lying and false doctrine;
B. The chest covering; the breastplate of
righteousness
having put on the breastplate of righteousness, Eph 6:14b
1. By putting on the covering of righteousness
a. We resist accusations of conscience and
despondency;
C. The foot covering; the gospel of peace
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the
Gospel of peace; Eph 6:15
1. By putting on the stabilizing quality of peace
a. We resist slander and selfishness;
D. Moveable covering; the shield of faith
above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one Eph 6:16
1. By putting on the protective ability of faith
a. we resist prayerlessness and doubt;
E. The head covering; the helmet of salvation
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Eph 6:17a
1. By putting the encouraging nature of salvation
a. We resist fear and disappointment.
II. The two offensive weapons
A. The sword of the Spirit, which is the word of
God,
and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;Eph 6:17b
B. Prayer: Which is where the discernment
comes from
praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, Eph 6:18a
