Summary: Look at the world today and ask your self this question.

ARE WE SERVANT OF GOD OR SIN

ROMANS 7:14 -25

The most powerful forces we deal with are sin and Satan.

We have four powers in which to deal with.

There will always be temptation.

Sin Self Satan

We can experience victory through Jesus Christ.

(1)We are in slavery to sin.

14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.

16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

Control Ver. 14 Sin is our boss

Confusion Ver.15 Will power and determination are not enough (only Christ can do it)

Complaint Ver.16—17

16 If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good.

17 Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.

(2) Servant to sin.

Self---- no good thing in the flesh.

Ver. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.

We can do nothing ourselves. We must abide in Christ.

John 15: 5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

Sufficiency----- when I want to do good I don’t

I try not to do wrong. We are weak.

John 3: 27 John answered and said, A man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven.

Sin if we don’t control sin it will control us.

1st John 4: 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Phil.4: 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

(3) Salvation from sin.

Desire------- without God’s help we practice evil

Ver. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

Our hearts are evil.

Jer.17: 9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Out of the heart.

Matt.15: 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Delight we should delight in God’s law.

Ver. 21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

Blessed are we.

Matt.5: 8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

Destruction---- sin wars against our good desires.

We have a battle all the time.

Eph.6: 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

1st Peter 5: 7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Deliverance ------we need every day we live.

Ver.24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

Failure struggling despairing we need deliverance.

Ver. 25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

Freedom------ this comes from Jesus and him only.

Victory is through Jesus only Over flesh sin and the devil.
